Team Awareness Workplace Wellness Curriculum

The Office of Prevention has coordinated with the North Carolina Centers for Prevention Resourcesto offer a unique Evidence Based Program (EBP) for Workplace Wellness and Substance Abuse Prevention. The Team Awareness Program wasdeveloped by OWLS (Organizational Wellness and Learning Systems)and is designed for use in any type of organizational setting or occupational group where employees interact with or depend on each other to get work done. Team Awareness is recognized by SAMHSA and fits into priorities outlined in it’s Strategic Initiatives. This series of trainings will certify facilitators to provide the Team Awareness Workplace Wellness Curriculum to Non-Profit and For-Profit Businesses interested in creating change through the development of on-site Wellness Programs.

The certification process will take approximately 3 months and will include 3 conference call training events and a 4 day on-site training in Raleigh. The Orientation Call is Monday, August 22nd at 2pm. After training is complete the certified facilitator will be able to provide Team Awareness Facilitation to area businesses; however this is nota training of trainers (TOT) certification.

We are seeking Certified Prevention Consultants who are interested in becoming part of a statewide team. This training is presented with funds from the Substance Abuse Prevention Block Grant (20%) and there is no registration cost for this free training; however participants will need to:

  • Cover personal expenses for lodging, travel and per diem during the 4 day training in Raleigh, October 10th-14th. Conference calls will be on August 22nd (2 hours) and September 12th (3.5 hours), plus a one-on-one TA call.
  • Recruit and train a test site business for delivering the practice material
  • Commit to attend all conference calls and the 4 day training event
  • Work as a team and continue to work with other certified Team Awareness Facilitators once training is complete
  • Enter required data into the NC POPS system
