Birth Defect Research Project
- You are to create a power point presentation about a selected birth defect
- The Power Point Presentation must be at least 7 slides long
- The Power Point Presentation must contain at least 5 pictures
- The Power Point Presentation must follow this outline:
o 1 slide – Title slide (your name and name of birth defect – picture would be good here)
o 1 slide – Cause (s) of the disorder
o 2 slides – The symptoms and effects of the defect upon the body
o 1 slide – Include any cures and/or treatments for the defect
o 1 slide – How does this disorder affect other family members and the home life?
o 1 slide – include at least two sources for information (so others can look it up if they want to) with at least 2 sentences summarizing each source (what will be found if I go to that source, what kind of information is available)
o SLIDES MUST CONTAIN AT LEAST 3 SUPPORTING FACTS (EXCEPT THE TITLE SLIDE AND SOURCES)
o DON’T FORGET TO INCLUDE 5 PICTURES!
o I NEED A PRINTED COPY FOR MY RECORDS – YOU CAN DO SEVERAL SLIDES ON ONE PAGE
- You will also create a handout for the class
- Your handout needs to contain the following elements:
o Your name
o Name of Birth defect
o Cause(s)
o Symptoms/Effects on body
o Cures/Treatments
o 2 sources for information
o Include a picture for extra credit
o I ONLY NEED ONE COPY – I WILL MAKE COPIES FOR THE CLASS!
Point Break Down
5 pts per slide (slide should have at least 3 facts!) 35 Pts.
2 pts per picture (in the power point) 10 pts.
Completed handout (with all required info.) 15 pts.
Extra credit Picture (on handout) 5 pts.
TOTAL : 60 PTS
