Course Description
Every purchase, lease, contract, marriage, divorce, arrest, crime or traffic violation places the citizen face-to-face with the law. 5277 Law & Order is designed to provide students with an understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities.
Course Objectives
Throughout the course, you will meet the following goals:
Understand how to make well rounded decisions
Understand ethics and their applications
Understand the importance of laws and the history of the U.S. legal system
Understand the parts and purposes of the court system
Understand the various types of law
Communication
Your teacher will communicate with you regularly through school email and Moodle via discussions, e-mail, chat, and system announcements. Through this communication with your teacher, you will monitor your progress through the course and improve your learning by reviewing material that was challenging for you.
You will also communicate with classmates, either via online tools or face-to-face, as you:
Collaborate on projects
Ask and answer questions in your peer group
Develop speaking and listening skills

You will be graded on the work you do online and the work you submit electronically to your teacher. The weighting for each category of graded activity is listed under each Unit in Moodle. Below is a sample of the assignment values.

Student Expectations
This course requires the same level of commitment from you as a traditional classroom course would. Throughout the course, you are expected to spend approximately 5–7 hours per week online.
Lab Questions, Text Questions, Discussion Questions –You will answer questions in the course through Moodle. YOU SHOULD ALLOW 48 HOURS FOR ME TO REVIEW YOUR. Each section typically has several questions that need answered. Please answer all parts of the question. A comment will typically be given to explain your grade. Please be sure to attempt to answer all of the short answers and do not leave them blank. ALL SHORT ANSWERS NEED TO BE ANSWERED IN COMPLETE SENTENCES WITH A CAPITAL LETTER AND PUNCTUATION!! Please check your typing. The Law and Order course gives prompts on how much of an answer should be given (ie one paragraph).
