Dear Parents and Carers
Please find below the dates of upcoming events until the end of term – there are lots of them!!
Book swap
We are holding a book swap event on Tuesday 16th May. If your child would like to take part, they will need to bring an unwanted book in before this date. Thanks to Year 4 and Miss Craft for organising this recycling event for school.
Vegetable Tasting Oak, Beech and Elm Class
Next week, the children in these classes will be tasting vegetables as part of their topic work. If you would not like your child to take part in this activity or if you have any concerns (for example if your child has allergies) please contact the class teacher.
Dinner Money
Dinner money for this term is £61.60 please send payment in to school on Mondays in an envelope with your child’s name on. If you wish to pay for the whole term by cheque please make it payable to LCC and ensure your child’s name is written on the back.
Orienteering Competition
On Friday 28th April, several children from Year 5 and Year 6 represented Staining at the Wyre and Fylde Orienteering competition. They did an amazing job and we came 3rd out of 20 schools which is a fantastic achievement. Well done and thank you to all the children, Mrs Montgomery and Ms Vines.
Headlice
Please check your child’s hair as we unfortunately have a repeat occurrence of head lice. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Music Lessons
The children are making good progress in their individual lessons on Tuesdays. The teachers have advised me there are spaces available for Violin, Trumpet/cornet and saxophones or flutes. Lessons are £5 per session and Mrs Montgomery will text you to advise you of the cost at the beginning of each half term. If your child would like to learn to play an instrument please let Mrs Montgomery know.

Summer Half Term
School reopens on Monday 5th June at 9.00 am after half term and then school reopens on Tuesday 5th September at 9.00 am for the new school year
Clubs:
Taekwondo Club: This will take place every Friday after school and continues until the last session on Friday 19th May. Places may be available, please contact Mrs Burns if your child would like to take part and does not already have a place. Her email address is
Tennis Club: This will take place on Thursday mornings before school on the above dates. To join Tennis club, please ask Mrs Montgomery for information.
Mr Military Fitness club- This continues Tuesdays until the end of term on 23rd May in the mornings from 8.-8.45am in school. Please ensure you have registered and paid for your child if they wish to attend.
Basketball: This will continue Thursdays until 25th May after school. The sessions take place after school and more information can be obtained from Mrs Montgomery.
Petite Acting Academy: This takes place on Tuesdays after school. A letter about this club has been sent home with children from Reception to Year 4. All the information is on the letter, including how to book and pay for a place for your child.
Dance Club: This takes place on Wednesdays after school and is free to join. Please note: Mrs Barker is unavailable at the moment; however, we will let you know when she is back.

Sports Days
KS2 sports day will take place on Tuesday 11th July at 1.00pm (reserve date Friday 14th July) and KS1 sports day will take place on Wednesday 12th July at 1.00pm (reserve date Thursday 13th July). Please note that the reserve date will only be used if the weather is too bad for us to have the event on the first allocated date.
Year 6 Performance Dates
The Year 6 performance will take place on Tuesday 11th July at 9.30am, Wednesday 12th July at 7.00pm and Thursday 13th July at 7.00pm. Information about tickets will follow soon.
End of Year Reports (14.07.17)
You will receive a copy of your child’s end of year report on this day. Please contact your child’s class teacher if you would like to discuss their report further.
DT Buggy Day (18.07.17)
This is a day in school where we can all build/ race the buggies we have made – more information to follow.
PTFA Family Day (19.07.17)
More details to follow about this day in school for all the children. Hopefully it will include a kite flying event!
