Experience Texas’ Early Years During the 23rdAnnual Christmas at The Fort

December 8,9,10,11, 2011

Introduce your family to Texas history at this stockade fort that played a unique roll in the settlement ofour state. A 19th century timeline of

entertainers and artisans will let you and your children learnabout Texas’ early history or purchase historic era reproduction Christmas gifts.

The living history timeline will span from the 1820s buck skinners to the 1890s cavalry, soldiers,and cowboy gunfighters.. In addition to

homestead and camp life demonstrations, artisans will demonstrateglass blowing, blacksmithing, knife making, woodcarving, pioneer cooking,

flint knapping, cornhusk doll making, beading, crocheting, spinning, weaving, and soap making. Live entertainment will include Indian Pow Wow

dancers, gunfighter skits, storytellers, soldiers, dulcimer music, flute music and rendezvous games and skills. New this year will be a Balloon Glow

with tethered rides sponsored by Nadine’s of Groesbeck as well as a Fly-In of vintage planes at Fort Parker Flying Field. Also new will be a

Colonial period camp and demonstration of Confederate women’s lives.

There will also be animals to pet and: wagon rides and of course Santa will be there!Thursday and Friday of Christmas At The Fort have

been dedicated as school days, with more than 2,000area children scheduled for tours. On Saturday and Sunday, the Old Fort Parker

grounds will be open to thepublic. Foodbooths will be available on site and lots of shopping. A limited number of camping spaces are

available, so make your requests early. Admissions will be $5 Adults and $2 Children (same price for 23 years)

(Food Vendors and Modern Traders will set have an authentic camp and games.This year we will have Christmas

Up first come first serve. RV & tent camping decorating contest with prizes for the best Modern Camp/Vendor,

spaces will be assigned.)Scouts welcome the best Rendezvous Camp and the best in Fort Educational display.
