Acting Headshots & Resumes
Headshot
When taking a headshot make sure that it is clear and contains your head and part of your shoulders.
Your headshot should express an emotion whether it be dramatic or comedic, look into the camera so the person looking at your headshot can connect to the person in the picture.
The background should be simple and not detect a specific location. Color is preferred if you have it, otherwise black & white is fine.
Resume
Make sure that your resume is no more than one page long – it will need to be attached to the back of your headshot.
The resume should be easy to read – use bold, underline, and the tab functions to your advantage.
Make sure that your name is featured on the resume, you want the person to remember your name.
Spell out items because not everyone will know what something like IRHS is, but they will know what Ironwood Ridge High School is.
If you don’t have technical experience, special skills, or anything else don’t put it on your resume. In fact, don’t even put in the category. This will free up more area for space in between your category or will allow you to have a large font.
If you need more space go to file, page set up, and then switch your top, bottom, left, and right margins to 0.6.
You want your most recent acting experience first followed by the most recent after or you can put your most important roles first.
If you have acting experience outside of class put that instead of class scenes and monologues.
In high school you do not want to include information past junior high, in college you don’t want information past high school, etc.
