Element Advertisement Requirements

As a member of IUPAC, you will pick an Element to make the Public aware of its real

World applications. Start with a claim.

  • You may choose to work in a group of 2 and do an element commercial or work individually on an element brochure or magazine article.
  • The commercial should be 1-2 minutes long. The brochureshould be front and back. The article should have a minimum of 2 columns per page
  • Commercials/Brochures/Articles shall be an advertisement for your element. They should be creative and interesting.
  • The front needs a storyline focusing on a real world application or problem. Include a claim of investigation about the element throughout the advertisement.
  • Advertisements should make reference to the following:
  • The element's phase of matter at room temperature
  • The element’s box information from the periodic table
  • The element’s period, family and group
  • The element's number of valence electrons
  • Indicate if the element is a metal, nonmetal or metalloid
  • Picture of the element
  • Electron diagram (model of atom)
  • When the element was discovered and/or created, if this information is known.
  • Common historical and/or modern uses for this element
  • At least 6 other researched physical and chemical properties of the element should be mentioned. These properties may include, but are not limited to:
  • color
  • texture
  • hardness
  • ability to conduct electricity
  • density
  • luster
  • malleability
  • ductility
  • boiling point
  • melting point ETC…..
  • You will present the brochure or magazine article or commercial to the class.
  • For the commercial:
  • Both group members must participate in the presentation of the commercial.
  • Both group members must maintain good eye contact and have a desirable voice quality and volume.
