Dear Parents and Guardians:

As we celebrate our students here at Stewart Middle School, we are planning this years’ activities,which will include Four Field Trips,Yearbook Signing, Class Cookout, 8thGrade Breakfast,Class Field Trip, Flight of the Eagles Ceremony and our long-awaited 8th Grade Dance, where we will crown our Stewart Middle 8th Grade King and Queen of 2018.

The Flight of the Eagles Ceremony is solemn occasion as we celebrate our 8th grade students and wish them the best as they leave Stewart Middle School to go onto conquer great things in high school. The ceremony is opened to family and friends of our students. The ceremony will take place Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00am until 12:00pm. Students are required to wear a white top (no white t-shirts) black bottoms, and dark shoes (no sneakers). Students who wish to wear a black and/ or white dress or skirted bottom may do so.

Our annual 8th Grade Dance will be held at Douglasville Municipal Court Ballroom on Friday, May 19, 2018 at 6:00pm until 9:00pm. The 8th Grade Dance is a semi-formal event whichmeans that young men are required to wear a nice suit or slacks and dress shirt and young ladies are required to wear age appropriatesemi-formal/formal dress. Tennis shoes or jeans will not be permitted. If your attire is questionable, do not wear it. If you are unsure, get approval in advance.

This danceis forStewartMiddle Schools’ 8th grade students only. No 6th or 7th grade students are permitted to attend. All attendants must be 8th grade students of Stewart Middle School.

In order for these activities to be achieved, 8th Grade dues have been assessed at $180.00CASH OR MONEY ORDER ONLY. The money may be paid in6installments or in one lump sum payment. The first installment must be paid by September 29, 2017. The committee must begin ordering items in advance;therefore, it is imperativethat you adhere to theaforementioned payment schedule. Payments must be complete by April 25, 2018. Please turn in all monies toMs. Dunn on the 8th Grade hall. A receipt will be given to each student with each payment.

For the remainder of the school year, from September 1, 2017 until May 10, 2018, if your child has 3 or more discipline referrals, is suspended out of school for any amount of time, or expelled any time before the week of the activities, they will not be permitted to attend any of the 8th Grade Week activities. If money is paid and your child becomesineligible, their money WILL NOT be refunded, but they will still receive their ordered items (i.e. t-shirts). Additionally, if your child has any lost textbooks, library books, or fines he or she will be unable to participate or attend any of the activities until the fees for those books have been collected.

*IF YOU PLAN ON PARTICIPATING IN ANY OF THE ACTIVITIES, A PAYMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED BY September 29, 2017. Checks/ Money Orders are made out to Stewart Middle School include students’first and last name.In the event of insufficient funds with personal checks, money order or cash will only be accepted. Payments will be received by Ms. Dunn on the 8th Grade Hall
