RESOLUTION # 2017-4

A Resolution to Amend County Office Hours for December 24 and the Friday after Thanksgiving

WHEREAS Resolution #687 designated that when December 24th falls on a weekday, Dawson County offices shall be closed from the hours of 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.; and

WHEREAS the governing body recognizes December 24th is not a legal holiday: and

WHEREAS MCA 7-4-102 authorizes the governing body to set by resolution after a public hearing office hours; and

WHERAS, MCA 7-4-2211. The sheriff, the county clerk, the clerk of the district court, the treasurer, the county attorney, the county auditor in counties in which that officer is maintained, and the county assessor shall keep their offices open for the transaction of business during the office hours determined by the governing body by resolution after a public hearing and only if consented to by any affected elected county officer, every day in the year except legal holidays and Saturdays.

WHEREAS no objections were raised on a public hearing held on February 21st; and

WHEREAS, the day after Thanksgiving is often a day when no business occurs in some County offices,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE DAWSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO RESCIND RESOLUTION #687 AND DESIGNATE OFFICE HOURS ON DECEMBER 24TH AND THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING AS FOLLOWS:

In years when December 24th falls on a weekday, Dawson County offices as outlined in MCA 7-4-2211, shall be open from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Other County offices may set varying hours upon approval of the Commissioners. The office hours for the Friday after Thanksgiving will be 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. for offices outlined in MCA 7-4-2211. Other County offices may set varying hours upon approval of the Commissioners.
