Minutes The Minutes of the AGM Meeting of 2010 were passed as a true record (D Verity, R Hoyle)

Chairman’s Report

The Chairman reported what a sad time it was for everyone with the loss of Keith Goulden. He would be greatly missed and a very hard act to follow, particularly with all the involvement he’d had with junior cricket. A minutes silence was held in remembrance.

It has been a year of mixed fortunes, there have been successes with Warley being made a new Focus club which is a wonderful achievement, Oxenhope have achieved clubmark and a number of clubs who were against it are now interested, which is encouraging.

Attendances have been down, which is disappointing – perhaps the agendas have not been as interesting as they used to be. Please let us know if you want to add items to the agenda.

King Cross has disbanded – one or two other clubs are struggling, is there a correlation between clubs who attend these meetings and clubs who do not. Clubs who do not attend do not benefit from things which are discussed at these meetings.

There is a shortage of umpires in the league; we should be concerned about this. We have ageing cricket teams in the league; this is probably because some clubs are not pushing juniors enough to replace the older players. We have been disappointed this year with the lack of support for girl’s cricket.

Future CCDG is happy to work with clubs who may be having problem; if they come to us we might be able to help. We will continue to develop coaching. We can’t make people attend the meetings but perhaps we could pass the word round to say that we are here to develop cricket and that the clubs not attending are missing out.

Secretary’s Report

3 meetings were held in April, June and December which were all well attended and the following main topics were discussed.

1  Steve Archer gave a presentation on CASC, Fundrazer and Just Giving. He also gave a summary of the ECB Development Seminar which was held at Cleckheaton CC for those clubs who were unable to attend.

2  Adele Robinson, Sport Development Officer for Calderdale held a discussion on Club Development and gave a talk about recruitment of volunteers on behalf of Sian Smith the Volunteer in Sport Co-Ordinator for Calderdale.

3  Clubmark updates: Calderdale, as a district, tops the national figures for the number of clubs who have been accredited. There are 31 clubs in Halifax League of which 21 have signed up for clubmark. It would be good to get the other 10 clubs to sign up as well.

4  Ladies and girls cricket – John Cliff of Copley CC organised a 10 week training session (which started at the end of January 2011). Ben Heritage has had some good feedback from girls wanting to play cricket at the ‘C2C’ schools where he has been coaching. There are four of the Halifax clubs who currently have a ladies team and play each other.

5  CCDG website – this is an ongoing project and a Website Manager has now been appointed.

Treasurer’s Report

We have received the annual £100 from YCA – we haven’t spent anything so we have £664.84 waiting to be spent.

What do we want to spend this money on?

Fee for the website is £50 per year.

Do we want to subsidise courses?

Any ideas bring it to the meeting or get in touch with Steve or John.

Coaching Report

Level 2 course completed – 16 will qualify.

Level 1 seems to be a problem at the moment – only 5 people interested – can’t run a course with only 5 people. David Robinson in Huddersfield has same problem. We have encouraged people to do a level 2 if they are/have played cricket. Level 1 is an assistant coach course for young people aged approx16 and people who want to help with junior cricket and have never been involved in cricket before.

We will run another level 2 in the autumn. The rules have changed; if you join a course and miss part of it and therefore can’t qualify you must complete it within 1 year, usually at no cost.

Email Dennis throughout the summer with names for both level 1 and 2. If there are sufficient numbers we will run a course, if not will join with Huddersfield.

First Aid (£12 if 15 or over attending) and Child Protection (£22) – we will run both these courses but we need at least 12 to 15 people to keep the cost down.

Would like to develop some coaching workshops – video analysis of cricketers to find their faults and coach about them. Invite local coaches to a meeting to discuss workshops. Will be a cost – perhaps we could fund part of this from the CCD budget.

Register of coaches, at the moment we do not know which coaches have paid their subscription to the ECB. Insurance will be a problem for people coaching who have not paid these subscriptions; we need to encourage coaches to join the ECB. In last 5 years 50 to 60 people have gone through the coaching system but the ECB only have 22 registered.

We need to create our own register. If possible each club to send a list to Dennis or John of their coaches who are affiliated to the ECB – the cost is £25 per year.

Vote of Thanks to Retiring Officers:

Neil Myers gave the vote of thanks to the retiring officers. He said that we are lucky in Calderdale, very sad that we had lost a big figure from the Halifax League but that he had left a legacy about people getting involved. We should be proud when Steve Archer tells us that we are the best group in the country. He expressed thanks to the clubs for attending but thanks to the officers for all their hard work this year, all the time they put in both at meetings and behind the scenes. He confirmed that clubs are benefitting from the CCDG and hoped that the officers would continue and keep up the good work.
