In this OUR workshop, a brief overview of the Next Generation Science Standards will be presented but the focus will be on implementing Practice #4: Analyzing and Interpreting Data. This Practice will require students to produce data that must be analyzed in order to bring out its meaning. Participants will take part in various short lessons that demonstrate how Practice #4 could be incorporated in their classrooms. They will collect various data sets and investigate different methods of tabulating, graphing, and analyzing the data in order to bring out the relevance so that it may be used as evidence. The methods and information shared at this workshop can be incorporated in science classrooms prior to the adoption of the NGSS.
