A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Spring is just around the corner, and that means…BASEBALL and SOFTBALL!

Baseball and Softball are great games for the entire family and we want everyone to be involved.

Did you know that…?

• State College Little League is an independent organization comprised of volunteers…parents

like you and me. The League is run by a volunteer Board of Directors elected at an annual

public meeting in October, the Board electing its own officers and committee chairmen. We

have an annual budget of well over $150,000, yet we receive no public funding or taxpayer

money of any kind. All of our revenue must come from registration fees, team sponsorship,

fundraising, and donations. (hint, hint).

• Our goal is to provide the boys and girls (ages 5-12) of our community the opportunity to

learn the games of baseball and softball in an enjoyable atmosphere. We stress the

importance of having adult volunteers as managers, coaches, umpires, and team helpers.

Remember, the main purpose of Little League is to foster the interaction of parents and

children in a healthy, recreational environment.

• The Board of Directors is acutely aware of the problems that can emerge from improperly

supervised youth sports. Under no circumstance will we tolerate unsportsmanlike or abusive

behavior on the part of parents, players, or coaches.

• The Board of Directors selects a Managers’ Committee whose function is to review the

performance of managers and coaches, address concerns/complaints, and select managers at

the Minor and Major levels for the upcoming season. The Player Agent and respective area

coordinators select managers at all other levels of play. It is important that parents express

their concerns or complaints to the Board. We welcome your input.

If you have any questions or concerns, please write to or call any member of the State

College Little League Board of Directors. Board members’ email addresses are listed on our

website; www.statecollegelittleleague.org.

Thank you,

Greg Korn, President
