STUDENT PARKING REGISTRATION
Student will be issued a parking permit after completing this application. This registration is required so that the school knows who is parked on their property so that in case of an emergency the administration can contact the owner of these vehicles. Students are responsible for their parking permits. All lost or stolen permits must be replaced at the students’ expense.- Permits are not transferable without administrative approval. Students that give their permits to other students will lose their driving/parking privileges.
- Any changes in vehicle or license number must be reported to the main office immediately.
- Temporary parking permits may be issued to students with 24-hour advance notice and administrative approval.
- All parking permits are the property of Griswold Public Schools.
- No person other than the registered driver who has submitted the proper paperwork and has an approved parking permit may operate a vehicle on school grounds.
- The permit must be displayed properly (attached to the rear-view mirror with the front of the tag showing through the windshield) at all times on school grounds.

DRIVING AND PARKING REGULATIONS
- The student parking lot is located near the tennis courts. Students are not allowed to park anywhere else on campus without administrative approval.
- Student vehicles shall be parked in the assigned, color-coded (white) student parking areas only. Student vehicles that are parked in the faculty lot or in visitor space may be towed at the owner’s expense, in addition to possible disciplinary consequences and/or parking tickets issued by the school.
- Students are not allowed in the student parking lot during school hours (7:35 - 2:19) without signing out at the main office and obtaining permission from an administrator. This is considered truancy and is subject to suspension.
- Vehicles parked on school property are subject to the search and seizure policy of the Griswold Public Schools.
- Reckless driving entering or exiting parking lots or around school grounds will result in the loss of parking privileges and the CT State Police will be informed. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Five unexcused tardies will result in loss of driving/parking privileges. Students who leave school without permission using their vehicles will lose their driving/parking privileges.
- The Griswold Board of Education and administration does not accept liability for theft of personal or damages to any vehicle or vehicular accidents incurred of school property. Park at your own risk.
- Cars must be locked and occupy only one designated (white lined) parking space.
- Students are not expected to loiter in the parking lot before or after school hours.
- All litter is to be deposited in an appropriate receptacle. Drivers are responsible for their passenger’s actions.
- Students are not to park in front or in back of the high school at any time.
- Entering and leaving the parking lot is to be done at a safe and reasonable speed. (Do not exceed 15 mph).
- Stereo are to be turned off while entering and exiting the parking lot.
- Refrain from blowing the horn, yelling or revving of the engine.
- No smoking at any time by drivers and/or passengers.
- Drivers may not enter or exit parking lot with more passengers than their vehicle allows by law.
- Any violation of student driving/parking regulations or violations of the student code of conduct may result in removal of driving/parking privileges and/or disciplinary consequences as determined by school administration.
