Wellesley Congregational Church, also known as the "Village Church", is searching for an outstanding Senior Pastor to lead our congregation as we continue on our journey of faith.

We are located in Wellesley, a town of some 26,000 residents, fifteen miles west of Boston. Village Church, founded in 1798, is particularly known for our vital worship, our longstanding commitment to the nurture of young people and our commitment to ministries of service and outreach.

Our new Senior Pastor will:

Be a dynamic worship leader and provide inspirational and thought provoking sermons.

Have an initiating and collaborative leadership style, and be comfortable working in a collegial environment.

Be responsible for a membership of 1000, a dedicated (and wonderful) staff of 20, and the many ministries within our church and our communities.

Have a passion for pastoral ministry and a commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation of pastors through our Pastoral Residency Program.

Envision the way that Village Church can change the world, and lead us intentionally into the future -- while remaining open to the surprises God may have in store for us.

  1. A current Resume.
  2. A two-page single spaced Statement of Ministry. You are free to shape this statement however you wish. You might include your call to ordained ministry, your spiritual or vocational pilgrimage, your theological orientation, your understanding of the purpose of the church, the role of a Senior Pastor, and your style of leadership.
  3. Completed Application Questions: See the enclosed Application Questions form for instructions. For this application, you may use some of the same pieces you have written for your UCC Ministerial Profile, but please do not send the profile itself.
  1. Three Letters of Reference. Ask three people to write a letter about your gifts and abilities as a pastor. Have the letters sent directly to the attention ofSenior Pastor Search at the address below.
  1. Three Phone References. Complete the enclosed form with the names and phone numbers of three other people we may call to learn more about you. Please choose three people different from your written references.
  1. If we call you for an interview, we will request that you send us a recorded sermon electronically or on a CD or a sermon manuscript immediately (no videos or DVDs, please), and we will ask you to complete a Background Disclosure form.
