Airplane: Arrival “Frankfurt Airport” is the best choice,
then take the train to Wuerzburg and use the pickup service
Train: to Wuerzburg, then use the pickup service
Car from North,South or East:
On Highway 7 between the cities “Fulda and Wuerzburg”use Exit “Hammelburg”
and follow street 27 to Hammelburg
Car from West:
From Highway 3 over Frankfurt to Wuerzburg use Exit “Aschaffenburg-Ost”
and follow street 26 to “Karlstadt”. In Karlstadt use street 27 to Hammelburg - Board and accommodation
Lodging will be realized in the “Infanterie Schule des Heeres” (Infantry Academy of the Army) located 4 miles away from the tournament hall. Players stay in 2-bed-rooms and organizers in single-rooms. The rooms are available from Saturday 13 June to Sunday
21 June 2009.
Unfortunately there is no space available for spouses, so they would have to stay in a hotel. You may find some suggestions on the NATO-CHESS-Homepage shortly (Link below). These costs have to be borne individually.
If you need special food (for example: vegetarian or kosher), please say so in the “Final Agreement”.
The cost of food, lodging and organisation will be borne by the organisers from evening meal on Sunday 14 June 2009 until breakfast on Saturday 20 June 2009. Supplementary costs of telephone calls, drinks, laundry etc will be borne by the individuals concerned. In Germany the tap water is safe to drink, the use of bottled water is unnecessary. - Tournament Program
A seven-round individual Swiss tournament will take place (FIDE-rules), with the four highest-scoring players from each country counting towards the team score.
Additional a NATO-blitz tournament will take place on Friday-afternoon. - Composition of the Teams
All employees of the participating nation’s Defence Department are regarded as potential team members (civilians included). Teams will consist of a maximum of eight “team members”:
- 1 x Team Captain
- 1 x Team Official
- 6 x Team Players
During the tournament a team representing NATO will be made up from personnel (team captains and officials) not already representing their nation. - Entry Fee
The entry fee for each “team member” is 210 Euro and for spouses 150 Euro.
It should be payed until 15 May 2009.
