Organisation Profile
Span Arts is a charity and company limited by guarantee. It is an inclusive community and membership based organisation which encourages volunteers to actively participate in all aspects of its work.
Managed by a full time paid Manager, strategic direction is shared with a Trustee Board of 9 volunteers drawn from the local community.
Current employees are: Manager, Event & Volunteer Co-ordinator, Marketing Officer, Finance Officer, Personal Assistant to Manager, Marketing Assistant.
Principal Activities
The objectives of the charity are 'To promote the Arts in society for the benefit of the inhabitants of Pembrokeshire, by developing public appreciation of the Arts, and by improving both public access to and the participation in the Arts.'
These objectives are fulfilled through the provision of a varied and professional programme of performing Arts events and Arts based activities, including music, comedy, theatre, dance and specialist workshops in Narberth and to a lesser extent, other selected Pembrokeshire locations
Span Arts values diversity and promotes equality; it is committed to ensuring that its events and activities are relevant and accessible to all members of the community. It works in partnership with other voluntary, statutory and private agencies where this can benefit its target participants.
In addition to delivering a vibrant programme of events, Span Arts also manages and develops project based work and initiatives.

‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ Project Outline
This will be a 3 year Big Lottery funded audience development project, called ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’.
The aims of the project are to reduce the stigma of the arts, increase awareness and loyalty to Span Arts, and to engage a wider range of people in the arts, in particular targeting the rurally, socially and economically isolated.
Job Description including Person Specification
Job title: ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ Project Team Leader
Responsible to: ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ Project Manager
Location: Narberth
Salary: £15,600 p/annum pro rata (£7,488)
Hours: Part Time (18 hrs per week)
Fixed term three year contract
Some evening & weekend work will be required
Holiday 5.6 weeks pro rata including Bank Holidays

Main Purpose of Job
The ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ Project Team Leader will be responsible for helping deliver a 3-year intergenerational community engagement project, funded by the BIG Lottery, called ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’.
The aim of the project is to use the arts to reduce rural, social and economic isolation through a programme of arts activities, while engaging a wider range of people in the arts, and increasing awareness of Span Arts’ activities.
This position will work alongside another Project Team Leader, who will both be managed by the Project Manager.
The Project Team Leaders will be responsible for recruiting, managing and monitoring volunteers working on this project; overseeing the administration of the project; and assisting with the delivery of the programme of arts activities in three key locations in Pembrokeshire – Narberth, Clarbeston Road and Maenclochog – plus their catchment areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist in creation and delivery of community engagement – e.g. focus groups, meeting with groups + organisations etc
· Create and develop relationships with members of each key location
· Create project volunteer teams in each delivery location: recruit, induct and train volunteers
· Assist with delivery of programme of arts activities – e.g. booking venues; hiring facilitators
· promoting the activities; monitoring feedback
· Manage and monitor volunteers, record volunteer hours, manage their personal development
· Work with Span Arts Volunteer Manager to tie in with opportunities within Span Arts’ core activities
· Monitor and evaluate success of project outcomes through open forum of feedback, including surveys, focus groups, and one-to-one meetings with project participants
· If necessary, assist in setting up fundraising schemes to support the project and to promote sustainability
· Contribute to monthly and quarterly funding project reporting
· Carry out admin duties required by project including use of Microsoft Office applications

Shortlisting
Shortlisting will take place as soon as possible after the closing date and will be carried out by at least two people.
