Organize and use your photos with iPhoto

Importing from an iPhoto Compatible Camera
- Connect the camera to your computer via the USB port (ask your media specialist or computer teacher for help or a hand out).
- Turn on your camera.
- iPhoto should launch automatically (if it does not, see the first paragraph).
- Click import.
- When the import is done, you can disconnect the camera and turn it of.
Each image will appear as a thumbnail or a smaller version of the photo you imported. If you wish to view photos in a different size, move the slider on the bottom right of the toolbar in either direction, or double click the photo.
Displaying a Slide Show
- Select an album or library to view.
- Click the slide show button on the lower left hand corner of the window (looks like a triangle pointing to the right) .
Create a Custom Show
- Click the Share button on the bottom right hand corner of the iPhoto window.
- Select the photos you wish to view in your show (hold down the apple key while selecting to choose more than one photo at once).
- Enter the desired value for the number of seconds you'd like each slide to appear.
- Click repeat for a looping slide show.
- Select the desired music via the drop down music menu or select other, and navigate to another music file.
Exporting your photos to e-mail or put on a web page.
- Select the photo you wish to export.
- Go to File/Export (or click Share, and then Export).
- Choose the file format you would like (for most purposes, original is fine).
- Choose “jpg” and a small file size. (640 or 320 for example)
- Click Export.
- Navigate to the place on which you would like to export or save your photos (server, disk, another place on your Mac HD).
- Click new folder.
- Name your folder and click create.
- iPhoto will save your folders to the place specified.
