Classroom Overview

Classroom Expectations:

  1. Students must be respectful, responsible and safe at all times in the classroom and the hallways.
  2. Students must carry agenda and appropriate supplies with them to class each and every day.
  3. Students must arrive on time for class on a daily basis.

Classroom Consequences:

  1. A warning will be given to the student.
  2. If the student continues the behavior a lunch detention with the teacher will be assigned.
  3. Repeated behavior will result in a phone call home.
  4. If none of the above seems to resolve the problem a referral will be written.
  5. If the behavior does not stop more referrals will be written.

Classroom Procedures:

  1. Quietly enter the classroom and find your seat. Read the board and complete what the bell ringer is asking.
  2. Once you have completed the bell ringer you must take out your agenda and write down whether or not you have homework for class and due date if necessary.
  3. If you were absent immediately check the absent folder for any work. If nothing is in the folder see your teacher to find out what you have missed.
  4. When you have homework to turn in hold on to it until the teacher directs you to take it out. Questions will be answered and then you will be instructed to turn it in.
  5. Students who forget to put their name on their paper will not be given it back. All no name papers will be placed in the red folder. It is your responsibility to locate that when it is not returned to you and turn it back in to receive credit.
  6. Papers returned with low scores may be fixed and turned back in for a better score. Please clearly mark the corrections being made and identify the problems being corrected.
  7. If you have to use the restroom or leave the class for a reason you must raise your hand and ask your teacher. If she says yes you must fill out your agenda appropriately and sign out on the sheet on the file cabinet. Make sure to sign back in when you return.
  8. If you enter the classroom late you must hand your pass to your teacher and immediately get out what is being worked on. If you are unsure raise your hand and ask.
  9. Late work will only be accepted for 10 days beyond the due date. This work will be scored according to how late it is and the quality of the work.
  10. If you lose your homework worksheet you can locate a master copy in the green folder. Take out the master copy and copy it down on a separate piece of paper. Include all titles, problems and your name. Students who were absent will be given a copy.
  11. Notes that you have lost may also be copied down. Locate the yellow folder and take out the notes that you have misplaced. Take out a paper of your own and copy them down. Students who were absent will be given a copy.
  12. Grades will be posted outside my door bi-weekly. They will be by hour and ID. If you have questions or concerns with your grade please see me immediately. Grades are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week online. Your parents should have received information on this.

Keep in mind…

  • Your student has a student planner/agenda that he/she will fill out daily. This is one of the valuable communication tools between the student, parents/guardians and teachers. Please check the agenda daily. It’s the student’s responsibility to show us any written note by a parent.
  • It is important to review information sent home about your student’s classes. This will help to ensure success early on because you will know what is expected of your child.
  • The District Discipline Code book will be followed and should be reviewed with your child along with classroom expectations.
  • Please take note of the supply list. Your child should have ample supplies at school and replace items as needed throughout the year.

If any problems, concerns or questions arise please contact me as soon as possible. I am able to be reached quickest through e-mail, however I do check my voicemail regularly as well. I hope the 2014-2015 school year will be a positive learning experience for your child.

Thank you!
