LtCol Michael A. Juenger is originally from Downingtown, PA. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. and graduated with a B.S. in Aeronautical Science.
LtCol Juenger joined the Marine Corps Reserve and attended recruit training at Parris Island SC. in May of 1989. He spent 5 years in the reserves before attending OCS in January of 1994.
LtCol Juenger attended TBS in March of 1994 and graduated in September of 1994. In the winter of 1995 he started the aviation pipeline. He was a member of training squadrons in Corpus Christi, TX and Meridian, MS. After receiving his “Wings” on October 11th, 1996, he stayed on with VT-7 as a TA-4J flight instructor. Following a 6 month tour as an advance jet instructor pilot LtCol Juenger joined VFA-106 in NAS Cecil Field, FL. He completed F/A-18 training in March of 1998.
In the spring of 1998 LtCol Juenger joined VMFA(AW)-224 “The Fighting Bengals”. While at VMFA(AW)-224 he received qualifications as a Division Lead, Air Combat Tactics Instructor, and a Post Maintenance Check Flight pilot. While in the squadron he held billets as the Powerline Officer, Responsible Officer and Intelligence Officer.
From August 2001 to May 2002 LtCol Juenger attended the final class of the Amphibious Warfare School in Quantico, VA. Upon completion of AWS LtCol Juenger was augmented to the Officer Candidates School and served as a Platoon Commander with Alpha Company, 4th Platoon.
In August of 2002 LtCol Juenger joined VFA-106 at NAS Oceana as an Instructor Pilot. During his tour at VFA-106 LtCol Juenger held billets as Schedule Writer, Quality Assurance Officer and Assistant Operations Officer.
In November 2004 LtCol Juenger joined the “Night Owls” of VMU-2 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. He served as the Intelligence Officer and while deployed to Iraq was assigned the billet of Operations Officer.
In April 2006 LtCol Juenger reported for duty to MAG-31 and subsequently joined “The Silver Eagles” of VMFA-115 in March of 2007. During his tour with VMFA-115 he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He held the billets of Operations, Maintenance and Executive Officer.
Following his tour with the Silver Eagles, LtCol Juenger reported to the Commander, Naval Air Forces Atlantic and assumed the duties of the F/A-18 Class Desk. During this tour he was responsible for the management of over 1000 F/A-18 Navy and Marine Corps airframes (A-G).
LtCol Juenger’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with numeral 4, and the Navy Commendation medal gold star in lieu of second award.
LtCol Juenger is married to the former Kelly Lynn Fondren of Downingtown, PA. They have three daughters, Madelynne, Amelia and Emma Kate.
