[ ] Poetry editor

This position includes: Supervision and organization of the SAGA poetry board. Two editors are chosen to work together to organize meetings of the poetry board, both for social and publication related reasons. The main responsibility of the poetry editor is to arrange selection meetings after our submission deadline ends Monday, January 2nd, 2017. Selection meetings are held in mid to late January shortly after the end of winter break. These meetings call the poetry board together to meet and discuss the poems submitted for the year’s magazine, and choose the 25-30 poems that will be published in the spring. Other responsibilities include organizing 1-3 on or off campus events at the discretion of the poetry editor. This could be, but is not limited to, open mics, social and seasonal events, fundraising efforts in relation to poetry, etc. It is preferred that the poetry editor have some experience in distributing flyers around campus, since you may be asked to create posters advertising our submission period and distribute them.

[ ] Art editor

This position includes: Supervision and organization of the SAGA art board. The main responsibility of the art editor is to arrange selection meetings after our submission deadline ends Monday, January 2nd, 2017. Selection meetings are held in mid to late January shortly after the end of winter break. These meetings call the art board together to meet and discuss the pieces submitted for the year’s magazine, and choose the 25-30 pieces of art that will be published in the spring. Other responsibilities include organizing 1-3 on or off campus events at the discretion of the art editor. This could be, but is not limited to, art galleries, social and seasonal events, fundraising efforts in relation to art, etc. It is preferred that the art editor have some experience in distributing flyers around campus, since they may be asked to create posters advertising our submission period and distribute them.

[ ] Prose editor

This position includes: Supervision and organization of the SAGA prose board. Two editors are chosen to work together to organize meetings of the prose board both for social and publication related reasons. The main responsibility of the prose editor is to arrange selection meetings after our submission deadline ends Monday, January 2nd, 2017. Selection meetings are held in mid to late January shortly after the end of winter break. These meetings call the prose board together to meet and discuss the pieces submitted for the year’s magazine and choose the 5-10 pieces of prose that will be published in the spring. Other responsibilities include organizing 1-3 on campus events at the discretion of the prose editor. This could be, but is not limited to, open mics, faculty features, social and seasonal events, fundraising efforts in relation to prose, etc. It is preferred that the prose editor have some experience in distributing flyers around campus, since they may be asked to create posters advertising our submission period and distribute them.

[ ] Copy editor

This position includes: Proofreading of SAGA Art & Literary Magazine during any stages of its production at the end of winter term/beginning of spring term. Two copy editors are chosen to read over each piece selected for publication for any errors. They also may be required to attend several meetings with the editors-in-chief and the production editors to proofread the entirety of the manuscript before it is sent out to the publisher.

[ ] Event coordinator

This position includes: Assisting the poetry, art, and prose editors in planning and carrying out their events. The two event coordinators are the poetry, art, and prose editor’s primary contact for needs of booking venues, acquiring desired materials and tech equipment, etc. Familiarity with potential on-campus and off-campus venues is preferred, as well as familiarly with working with on-campus organizations such as the OSL and campus catering. Event coordinators may be asked to attend all of the SAGA events that they can, in order to work with the board editors to ensure the event is running smoothly.

[ ] Production editor

This position includes: Helping the editors-in-chief compile the final manuscript of SAGA for publication. These two editors assist in creating the digital proof copy in InDesign that will eventually be sent to a publisher. This position may demand long hours at the beginning of spring term. Experience with InDesign as well as any graphic design background is greatly appreciated.

[ ] Social media manager

This position includes: Promoting SAGA Art & Literary Magazine on mediums such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. One manager is selected to maintain a positive image of the magazine on all social media fronts, and spread the word about SAGA related events. This manager must communicate with the poetry, art, and prose board editors in order to properly advertise events. They also must work closely alongside the advertising/public relations manager in order to promptly upload new graphics to all of SAGA’s social media platforms. Must be willing to stay up to date with all other staff and keep up a steady, consistent output of information on SAGA’s social media platforms.

[ ] Advertising/public relations manager

This position includes: The creation of visually appealing graphics and advertisements, for SAGA to utilize physically and digitally to promote the magazine’s presence, submission period, and release party. This position works alongside the social media manager to maintain a consistent output of content on social media platforms; this manager also assists the poetry, art, and prose boards with creating posters and other advertising materials. A background in graphic design and proficient experience with programs such as Photoshop are appreciated.
