POSITION TITLE:Project Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION:Level 3 – 4 (depending on experience and qualifications)Social and Community Services Industry Award 2010.
LOCATION:17 McLachlan Street, Horsham
RESPONSIBLE TO:Executive Officer
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIPS: Program Manager, Executive Officer, Project Coordinators and sportsclubs/ associations.
TIME ALLOCATION:76 hours per fortnight
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Organisation:
The Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly (WRSA)is one of 9 Regional Sport Assemblies throughout Victoria. Based in Horsham, the Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly is the leading agency in the Wimmera Region facilitating and supportingincreased participation in sport and recreation sectors throughout 5 Shires. The Shires include Horsham Rural City, Yarriambiack, Hindmarsh, Northern Grampians and West Wimmera. The Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly is a not-for-profit organisation, primarily funded through Department of Sport and Recreation to deliver the Regional Sport and Recreationprogram and the Access for All Abilities program, and also through VicHealth for thedelivery of the Regional Sport Program.
Role of the Project Co-ordinator:
Your role in the organisation is to:-
a)Be involved in the delivery, planning and reporting of programs, projects and services undertaken by the WRSA.
b)Your proactive and creative approach will assistthe sport and recreation community to recognise and embrace environments that encourage increasedparticipation.
c)Your understanding of the sport and recreation sector will ensure you achieve the outcomes expected from our strategic and short-term planning.
The Project Co-ordinator shall:-
Project Management:
a)Ensure that specific projects operate within the appropriate funding & service frameworks.
b)Participate in planning processes both internal and external.
c)Monitor project expenditure against approved budget allocations.
d)Attend relevant industry forums and meetings.
e)Liaise with external organisations involved in the provision of healthy sport andactive recreation environments.
f)Be prepared to work in accordance with the operating hours of the sector youservice in order to maximise the benefits of our funded programs.
g)Undertake community consultation processes.
h)Identify key issues, service gaps and development opportunities in relation to the provision of inclusive & sustainable community sport and recreationenvironments.
i)Develop collaborative partnerships and networks within the community thatsupport the organisational objectives.
j)Where necessary act as an advocate for specific projects & population groups.
k)Facilitate education, training and capacity building activities as required.
Marketing & Promotion:
a)Promote and develop increased awareness of sport and active recreation in the community.
b)Prepare any relevant information for advertising and media promotion.
c)Appropriately represent and promote the WRSA.
d)Assist in continued development and maintenance of the WRSAwebsite.
e)Maintain the WRSA image in accordance with its policies andprocedures manual.
Reporting & Evaluation:
a)Attend WRSA Meetings and provide written and verbal reports on the status of projects as requested.
b)Monitor and evaluate outcomes against project objectives and strategies.
c)Where necessary facilitate and participate in evaluation processes.
Key Selection Criteria:
a)Tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Human Movement, Sport & Recreation Management, Community Development and/or other related field.
b)Demonstrate an understanding of the Australian sport and recreation industry, particularly at acommunity club and association level.
c)Ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders across sport and recreation, government, community organisations and corporate sectors to achieve community outcomes.
d)Ability to work the occasional evenings & weekends.
e)High level initiative, maturity and ability to accept and assume responsibility.
f)Experience in project and/or event planning, implementation, management and evaluation.
g)Understanding of how to engage a broad range of population groups eg: people with a disability, low socio-economic and/or new arrival communities.
h)Well developedIT, organisational and time management skills.
i)Sound written and verbal communication skills.
j)Current driver’s licence or independent & flexible transport options.
k)An understanding of the principals of community development.
l)Demonstrated ability to facilitate small group activities/consultations.
