COLDSTREAM PARK SCIENCE FAIR 2012

The Coldstream Park 2012 Science Fair will be open to students at grades 3-5; participation in the fair is mandatory. On December 9, 2011, students of these grades were given a Science Fair packet in preparation for the Science fair which will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012. Included in the packet were the general rules to follow when selecting a Science Fair topic. There was a schedule to follow while working on the project. Also, there were activities to use to help select a topic. Students were required to submit a Science Fair topic to their teacher on January 4, 2012. In order to be ready for the Science Fair, students should: research a topic, state the hypothesis, plan the procedure, gather materials, begin the first experiment, complete the first experiment, and repeat the experiment. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

MSA SPRING 2012

As part of Maryland’s school accountability program, students in grades 3-8 and 10 take the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) in reading and math each March. This testing program meets the federal requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). Based on their performance on the MSA, each student’s performance is categorized into one of three performance levels – basic, proficient, and advanced. Student scores are reported at the school, district, and state level.

  • The MSA will be administered to all students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
  • The testing window for the Maryland School Assessment is March 12-21.
  • Scores from the spring 2012 administration are due back to the schools before the end of the 2011-2012 school year.
  • PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS IN SCHOOL AND ON TIME ON THESE TEST DATES!!!

KEEP OUR STUDENTS SAFE

The driveway that leads from Loch Raven Boulevard to our school is off limits throughout the school day. Students cross the driveway coming to and leaving school and may not be aware of any cars moving along the route. All parents are asked to use the driveway that leads from Exeter Hall to access our school. Our students are depending on you to maintain their safety.
