Eligibility: Widowed, divorced or separated persons of all faiths and beliefs.

Services:Beginning Experience provides a safe space, support and tools to facilitate healing and growth so one’s greatest devastation can become an opportunity to move ahead with confidence and well-being. The Weekend program is designed to turn heartache into hope. There are support groups that meet weekly for those in the early stages of grief. All facilitators are volunteers who have been through the program and want to help others on the long walk back to wholeness. Services: Grief Share is a Christian based, nondenominational program that covers grief and facilitates the road to recovery. It is a 13-week session support group of members who have experienced bereavement. Each session includes a video seminar and small group discussion. There is also a special one-day “Surviving the Holiday” session.

Services:Bereavement support groups for adults, annual family/children’s camp, Ka Pilani Pulama (The Caring Connection), and consultation/support for death in the workplace, schools, and the community.

Honolulu Support Group meets on the first Wednesday of the month, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM, at Hospice Hawaii offices, 860 Iwilei Rd, Honolulu.

Kailua Support Group meets on the second Friday of the month, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Castle Hospital Wellness and Lifestyle Medicine Center, Wellness Auditorium, 640 Ulukahiki St., Kailua.

Aiea Support Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Pali Momi Medical Center, Executive Conference Room, 98-1079 Moanalua Rd., Aiea.

Annual Family/Children’s Camp (June 13 – 15, 2014): Hospice Hawaii sponsors an outdoor camp, which combines recreational activities and introspective grief exercises to assist the healing of the family. The two evening sleepover event is annually scheduled in June. There is a $50 fee per family. Scholarships are available. Call Aki Morita @791-8082 for more info.

Grief Support in the Workplace, Schools and Community: A sudden death in the work place, school or other social setting can bring life to a standstill. Trained hospice staff can lead debriefings, and work with Human Resource personnel and school counselors to identify, normalize and support grief reactions in response to a sudden death.

Eligibility:Families who have suffered the loss of a child (newborn to 24-years old), and those with children battling life-threatening injury or illness.

Services: JNCF provides financial assistance to help families with the cost of their child’s memorial service, hospital co- payments, and individual or family grief counseling. Applications for financial assistance are available online. Monthly bereavement support group meetings are held in partnership with Queen Lili’uokalani Children’s Center at their Honolulu location- 1300 A Halona St. from 6 PM- 8 PM every third Thursday of every month (no meetings in May and December due to other scheduled community events) Annual remembrance event in December for families who have lost a child, to honor their memory and have fellowship with other local families.
