· A motion was made and seconded to appoint Michael Leon Committee Chairmen for the meeting.
· At this current meeting the following company representatives were sent:
o Reliance: Chris Santucci
o Mellor: Stephen Ryetelewski, Michael Leon
o Putnam: Michael Mancuso Jr.
o Brooksville: Chris Tigani
o Washington: Paul Creagan (unofficially)
o Ladder: Ryan Cantatore
o Rescue: John Giodano
· Mike Leon started a discussion on how the website will benefit the department with up to the date news, current events, and training. Mike stated that the procedures of a member that wants to add something to the site would be that the member will email the web site administrators and they will approve the content prior to adding the stuff to the company’s pages. Mike noted that everything will be filtered through the web master.
· Paul Creagan stated that we may want to get a public information officer to send in the information to the web site committee. Mike insisted that this will not be an Emtbravo type of site it will be more of a fire company website and not an information source.
· Paul asked if this will be an official Port Chester fire department site or not as this will cause a conflict. Mike Leon stated that he will look into this and figure out what to do on this subject. Mike would love for this to be an official page and for all the companies to support this.
· Mike also would like to add a blazer page on the site. He will talk with Frank Gordiski about doing this. It can be done easily by scanning the page on the computer.
· Mike discussed about the individual company pages. Mike stated that at the beginning it will be started and controlled by the web masters until everything is up and the committee members from the individual companies are up to speed on how to change things. At that time the committee members appointed will be given a password to edit their individual pages themselves. Mike stated that everything will be monitored by the web master and if there is anything inappropriate it will be removed immediately. Everything that is added can be traced back to the user name that was used to add the information.
· There will be a fire prevention page to better and help plan our fire prevention.
· Every member in the department will have their own portchesterfire.com email address. This will allow company officer to have a list of everyone in their companies that have the emails to help out communication through their companies and within the department. Emails will be set up through Gmail.
· There will be a classified section so people can post jobs available and anything they are selling.
· There are three companies that the committee is looking at starting the site with. They are:
www.firecompanies.com
o $595.00 setup fee
o $79.00 per month
o Pay quarterly and no contracts.
www.firehousesolutions.com
o $795.00 setup fee
o $99.00 per month
o More expensive and does the same thing as above
www.911webs.com
o $2000.00 setup fee
o $200.00 per month 1st year and 3rd year $239.00 per month
· An idea was brought up to include Post 700 in the site. Mike stated that we should give them a page to help publicize the Explorer post.
· Mike stated we will have a photos section on the site. This will help in showing the public on what we do. All photos will be pending approval by the web masters.
· Chris Santucci asked Mike to find out on the security measures that the web site setup companies have.
· Chris Santucci stated that we need to put a disclaimer on the bottom of all outgoing emails to prevent liability reasons and security issues. Mike stated that this is a web master issue and it will be done.
· Charlie Nielsen stated that we need to put out a set of rules on everything that is posted on these sites.
· Paul Creagan stated that we need to sit down with the chiefs to discuss on what we’re doing and the show them the information and stuff were about to put on the sites. Charlie stated that if Putnam engine and hose is paying for the site the chiefs shouldn’t have a say on what is put on the site. Paul stated that this is where we have a problem if this is an official page or a public page. We must run this by the Chiefs to figure out on how we should go about this web site. It comes down to that the Home page should be reviewed by the chiefs and the companies pages should be approved by the company committee members.
· The control of the site will be within the committee members.
· Mike discussed that Mellor hose gave Mike $600 to get the website up and running. Mike stated if the department goes in equally Mellor hose will get some of their member back. Mike is requesting $300 from each company. This price will keep the website going for 13 months. If we go to the firehousesolutions.com or 19 months if we go with firecompanies.com. If the companies think $300 is too much the companies can pay $150 up front so we can get the site up so the companies can see a finished product and then the other $150 after they see it that’s fine.
· After the 19 months we will get an ad space on the site so we can sell ads on our site to limit the cost for another 19 months.
· Mike requested the company committee members to bring all this information back to their respected companies for review and approval.
· Another meeting will be scheduled after the completion of the May Monthly company meetings.
· As there was no further business the meeting was adjourned at 20:00hrs.
