Selected Career Achievements

Established Motorcycle division of "Mahindra & Mahindra" Ltd taking the first steps in South America. Participated in the election of the country; basing the decision on market size, political stability and economic indicators. The decision would also include the advantages a country can offer to foreign investment. The major challenge was to establish a complete platform for production and commercialization of motorcycles in a fierce market of 500,000 units sold in a year. Since, the starting point of registering a company in the Colombian Legal system, registering the investment in a very government controlled environment (Due to the money laundry) up to searching for the corporate offices, strategic locations for dealerships, and at the same time maintain company image along with logos, colors according to corporate guidelines. Result: Building to dealerships, hiring and trained new staff, evaluated and selected investors and spearhead an aggressive marketing and sales plan.

Championed the creation of 25 Dealerships around the nation; through a sale and marketing plan that would set the foothold for growth to the parent company in South America for an $8M in annual sales for the first year. Wrote the business plan and set the guidelines for execution. Choose the product and price diversification to appeal to a broader segment of the market. Results: Increase overall sales by generating repeating business and start establishing the Brand in different areas of the country.

Launched a multifunctional team for the expansion of Mrs. Baird’s brand from TX to CA, saving the company $0.070 per unit sold ($0.5M annually) by switching the products from co-packers to the company’s production line in Texas. Implemented a logistic and sales plan between the markets. Result: Increased margin 27% for this product.

Managed several projects that took place to celebrate 100 years of Mrs. Baird`s being a Texas Brand. Responsible for planning and execution of all the marketing strategies such as; TV advertisement, radio promotional spots, changing packaging for every product and working in all the public and internal events for the brand. Results:Minimal negative internal impact involving employees coming from different areas of the company in the celebration, as well as, public impact involving important personalities like Governor Rick Perry as a speaker in the main event.

Launched several new bakery products – specifically Whole Grain White bread. Optimized the product concept based on the results of customers’ flavor tendency, consumer driven insights, food ideation sections and focus groups. Aligned the production, financial and sales groups to buy in the introduction of a new product. Results: The product was launched and still is one of the big players in the portfolio representing 8 % of the brand sales. Total market sales of Mrs. Baird`s at the time was $136 M.

Reviewed operational processes in a Production Audit. Discovered discrepancies between the numbers of units that the plant should had produced against the amount of units produced. After, checking the tortillas weight and the purchasing process of the flour, found out that the flour silos were broken. Therefore, flour was leaking causing the discrepancy in units for a total value of $2 M dollars per year. The risk was pointed out to the Plant Manager. Result: Silos were repaired to avoid more leaking of flour.

Improved the accuracy of data by having a clean historical sales data, which allow the company to present information by segments like bread, sweet goods, tortillas and crackers. Captured and linked a unique product to its variable margin cost by area with its sales price to calculate internal margin percentages. This tool was done by exporting the company information to excel and access databases and then, creating a macro to facilitate the end user to pull data by their desired range in terms of time, product, segment and brand. Results: The Company improved estimate sales, before launching new products by comparing those estimations to historical data in similar products.
