Mote Bracelet
This bracelet may be worn by students to fill in as they travel around the aquarium.
Directions: Make copies of bracelet sheet, enough so that each student has one. Cut out individual bracelets. Use Velcro or tape to fasten around students’ wrists. If using Velcro, the top piece goes on the back side and the bottom piece on the front near the bottom. Fastening the bracelets in some manner shouldprevent students fromlosing them. Upon arrival to Mote, please give one pencil to each student so they can take notes during the field trip.
The first half of the bracelet is intended to be answered as students travel through the Aquarium. Please have them list five fish and five invertebrates. This section has many possible answers. As they write down their answers, ask the students to remember what each animal looks like. You can use this information back in the classroom to compare and contrast body shapes and/or positions of different body parts. Depending on age, have students draw pictures and label parts. This activity will hopefully spark conversations about the visit. Be creative and use the bracelet anyway you see fit.
The second half of the bracelet is intended to be answered as students travel through the Goldstein Marine Mammal Center. These answers are a little more specific. 1.) TED stands for Turtle Excluder Device. 2.) The turtle is amelanistic (still has some pigmentation but not much, unreleaseable because he would stand out in the wild and be vulnerable to predators such as sharks). 3.) Harley is a spinner dolphin and Moonshine is a pantropical spotted dolphin.
We would like for you to use the information learned during your visit back in the classroom with activities and lesson plans. If you have any ideas on how we can be of greater assistance, please e-mail them to
Thank you and have fun with the bracelet!!!
