Romantik

Journal for the Study of Romanticisms

Aims and Scope

Romantik is a multi-disciplinary journaldedicated to the study of both the cultural productions and the concept of romanticism. The articles range over the full variety of cultural practices, including the written word, visual arts, history, philosophy, religion, and theatre during the period (c. 1780–1840). The journal is interested in all European and Scandinavian romanticisms, as well as the connections between them. We aim to publish articles of relevance to both a Nordic and an international community. In our acceptance of articles for the journal, we will focus on the innovativeness and presentation of the material.

Romantikis peer-reviewed and published once a year.We will have special issues on different themes of current critical interest. Each annual issue contains a review section, where we draw special attention to works published in the Nordic countries, as well as exhibitions with relevance to Romanticism.

The journal and its accompanying website are associated with the Nordic Association for the Study of Romanticisms.

A Short History

The Nordic Society for the Study of Romanticism has its origins in Dansk Selskab for Romantikstudier (Danish Society for Romantic Studies), established in 1995. The Society has been a vibrant forum for research, conferences and guest lectures. Thereare representatives from University of Aarhus, University of Aalborg and the University of Copenhagen in the executive committee. The Society has been responsible for a well-renowned series of academic papers, published in English, German and Danish. The current issue is number fifty-six.

The time has now come to launch a new vision. We now aim to reach a broader international audience, as signaled in the change of name. The Nordic dimension will be developed through establishing a formal network of researchers and experts from Scandinavian Universities and beyond.

The editorial group behind Romantik - Nordic Journal for the Study of Romantiscisms will have three tiers: an editorial committee, a Nordic board of editorial advisors and a European group of academic consultants. With this organisation we aim to establish a basis for a referenced journal that publishes exciting new articles to the highest standard.
