Burbank, CA (February 15, 2005) – The stylized action series from the acclaimed creator Genndy Tartakovsky (Star Wars: Clone Wars, Dexter’s Laboratory) returns as Warner Home Video debuts Samurai Jack: Season Two on DVD. This 2-disc collector’s set contains all 13 episodes (over 4 hours) featuring the animated warrior, and will be available on May 24 at $29.98 SRP. Samurai Jack received an Emmy in 2004 for Outstanding Animated Program.
Samurai Jack tells the tale of a young samurai cast far into a high-tech future by the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku. Jack’s only goal is to find a time portal so that he may return home to liberate his people from the terrible sorcerer and his demon forces that rule the world. Join Samurai Jack on the solitary warrior’s quest to return to the past and undo the destruction that Aku has wrought upon the land. A man of few words, Jack relies on his training as a warrior, combining intellect, restraint and physical strength, to help him along the way.
Samurai Jack features the voices of Phil La Marr (Mad TV) and Mako (Pearl Harbor), plus Season Two includes special guest appearances by George Takei (Star Trek), Clancy Brown (HBO’s “Carnivale”) and David Alan Grier (“In Living Color”).
Airing for four seasons on Cartoon Network, Samurai Jack was honored with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Animation and won five Annie Awards including Outstanding Character Design in an Animated Television Program.
“Samurai Jack has certainly become a fan favorite on DVD, with the demand for Season One proving very successful,” said Christine Martinez, WHV Vice President, Non-theatrical Franchise Marketing. “Genndy Tartakovsky’s incredible cult fanbase only continues to grow in popularity, with the success of his most recent Cartoon Network series Star Wars: Clone Wars, so new fans will be just as excited to see more of Genndy’s innovative artwork and storylines.”
