Consitution for BuckeyeFit at the Ohio State University
Article I- Name, Purpose and Non-Discrimination Policy for BuckeyeFit
1. Name: This organization shall be known as BuckeyeFit at the Ohio State University.
2. Purpose: To establish a community of Buckeyes seeking to develop their fitness by way of Crossfit (constantly varied functional movements performed at a relatively high intensity) and cultivate wellness that will result in long term health benefits.
3. Non-Discrimination Policy: This This Organization and its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) for reasons of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
Article II- Membership
1. Voting Membership to BuckeyeFit shall consist of students at the Ohio State University and are in good financial standings with the organization.
- Voting Members will be required to pay the total of $ in dues per semester.
- Voting Members will be required to attend at least 2 general meetings as well as 4 workouts throughout the semester.
2. Honorary (non-voting) Membership can be granted to faculty, alumni and professionals through majority decision of the standing executive board.
- Honorary members are still subject to dues in order to affiliate with BuckeyeFit.
- Honorary members are subjects to the rates and fees of facilities where BuckeyeFit hosts its workouts.
Article III- BuckeyeFit Leadership, terms of office, type of selection, and duties of the leaders
1. President: The President shall call and chair all general and Executive Meeting, act as representative and spokesperson in all external functions and serve as the liaison to other student organizations. He/she shall attend the annual training session proctored by the University and ensure the organization remains in good standing with the Ohio Union. The President will coordinate with the fitness advisor as to the workouts and will set the agenda of each general meeting. He/she has the right to appoint an assistant to help with any tasks as needed.
2. Vice President: The Vice President shall assist the President in the conduct of general meetings and service the role of President in the event he/she is unavailable. The Vice President shall maintain attendance records and inform the Executive Board of any member who falls short of the attendance policy. The Vice President shall plan any events that are not considered a regularly scheduled meeting. . He/she has the right to appoint an assistant to help with any tasks as needed.
3. Treasurer: The Treasurer shall document all organizational funds including annual expenditures, membership dues, reimbursements, and funding applications. He/she shall be responsible for organizing any fundraiser events, attend the annual treasurer training session proctored by the University, and ensure the organization is in good financial standings with the Union. The Treasurer will report the financial status at each executive board meeting and help to plan the budget for the following semester. . He/she has the right to appoint an assistant to help with any tasks as needed.
Article IV- Method of Selecting and Removing Officers and Members
1. Any student of the Ohio State Univeristy, in good financial standings is qualified to join BuckeyeFit.
2. Any member has the right to bring to question the membership of another member if the accuser has been made to feel uncomfortable, discouraged, humiliated, or left out by the member in question.
- The executive board with then host a closed meeting where all facts and information of the case will be reviewed.
- Once a decision has been made, the member in question shall be immediately informed.
- In the event of an expulsion, the President will address the general membership of the expulsion and the reasoning behind it.
3. Any member in good financial standings with the organization and who has been a member for a semester and embody the principles and values upheld by BuckeyeFit is qualified to run for the executive board.
4. The executive board shall be elected through a majority vote.
5. If an executive member has been acting unbecoming of their position can be removed through a two-thirds majority vote of the voting membership.
Article V- Advisor(S) or Advisory Board: Qualification Criteria
1. The Advisor for BuckeyeFit must be a member of the University faculty or Administrative and Professional staff.
2. The Advisor shall oversee all planning of the semester’s event and serve as a resource to the executive board throughout the year.
Article VI- Meetings of the Organization
1. Workouts shall be held twice a week at a predetermined location and time. A general meeting shall be held every other week on Sunday at a predetermined location and time.
2. Members are required to attend at least two workouts and two general meetings throughout the semester.
Article VII- Method of Amending the Constitution: Proposals, notice, and voting requrirements
1. Proposed amendments should be in writing, should not be acted upon but read in the general meeting in which they are proposed, should be read again at a specified number of subsequent general meetings and the general meeting in which the votes will be taken.
2. Approval should require at least two-thirds of voting members present (and to conduct any business an organization should have quorum present at a business meeting, which is at minimum 50% + 1 of total organization members).
Article VIII- Dissolution of the Organization
1. Should the members of BuckeyeFit decide dissolve the organization through a unanimous vote, all assets shall be donated to the charity voted on by the members.
