SUMMER SERVICE IMMERSION PROGRAM - 2018
Now accepting applications and deposits from students in grades 9, 10 & 11.

Due date March 27.

To apply, students from the classes of2021,2020 2019must complete an application and provide a deposit of $500 payable Loyola High School*.As well, at that time a color copy of the student’s current passport be attached to the application.If the student does not have a passport, it is imperative that the applying students with their parents start the application process now as it takes six to eight weeks to receive a first-time passport or a renewal. No visas are required for any of these destinations.Contact Mr. Zeko with questions in person in the Community Service Center or via e-mail paces reserved by the date that the registration forms are received by Mr. Zeko.

Quito, Ecuador #1 - Working Boys' Center-June 10 - June 20.After second semester exams.

Total 12 students with two chaperones.Messrs. Michael Shawver, Tom Zeko and one more.

Service, language and culture. House building, clinic assistance, tutoring and teaching in the school.

Fee: $1,500 all inclusive: airline and ground transit, housing, meals, service supervision, and tours.

Spanish helpful, but not required.

Taos, New Mexico – Native American service and culture immersion.June 17 – 22.8 students.Chaperones: TBD. Service activities include refurbish local pueblo school, a variety of agricultural projects; participating in local cultural activities of drumming, dancing, storytelling and folklore traditions. Mountain hiking to ancient ruins and hot springs. Fee: $1,800 inclusive of travel, most meals, housing and program guide services.

Mexico City/Puebla - IPODERIC– orphanage/ youth center -June 29/Friday afternoon - July 8/Sunday evening.Partnering with Walking Tree Student Travel Services.

During Summer School. Only two conflict days with LHS Summer School: July 2 and July 3.

Total 16 students with two chaperones.Chaperones: Messrs. Tom Zeko, Adam Gonzalez and Neal Anderberg.

Service, language, culture, local cuisine and accompaniment.

Fee: $1,500 all inclusive: airline and ground transit, housing, meals, service supervision and tours.

Spanish helpful, but not required.

San Juan, Puerto Rico– Jesuit Colegio San Ignacio.July 23 – 31After Summer School.

Partnering with Walking Tree Student Travel Services.

Total: 16 students and two chaperones. Chaperones: Messrs. Kyle Knoll and Stefan Menghin.

Service, language, culture and accompaniment

Fee: $1,700 all inclusive: airline and ground transit, housing, meals,service supervision and tours.

Spanish helpful, but not required.

LosAngelesUrban Plunge – five day program.July 21 – 25.After Summer School.

Partnering with the LA Skidrow Missions, Hollywood youth shelters, Dolores Mission, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank,

Good Shepherd Shelter and Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority as well as St. Francis Center and the Cardinal Manning Center/St. Vincent DePaul and Catholic Work.I6 students.Chaperone:Messrs. John Ahearn& Chris Hanna. Fee $250. Deposit - $100.

San Francisco, Urban Plunge – six day, July 21 – 26.After Summer School.

Partnering with St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco, Catholic Charities and Polk Street missions, soup kitchen and centers serving the homeless & poor.8- 10students.Chaperones:Mr. Adam Gonzalez & Ms. Sara Gacina. Fee: $500. Deposit - $100.

·All student applications are subject toreview and approval by the Loyola Dean.

·All Loyola High School rules for student behavior apply during the course of these service trips.

·Students will be required to securetravel insurancefor any of these service trips.

Service creditis available for all service trips to credit to the sophomore or junior service requirements.
