EPISCOPAL DIOCESE OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
CLERICAL MEMBERS OF THE STANDING COMMITTEE
May 15, 2012
MEETING MINUTES
The Rt. Rev. Barry L. Beisner, Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Northern California, laid before the clerical members of the Standing Committee of the Diocese the matter of a letter presented to him by the Rev. Tyler A. Strand, a Priest canonically resident in this Diocese. He did so in a conference call meeting held at 11:45 am on May 15, 2012. Participating in the meeting were The Very Rev. Canon Christopher Seal, The Rev. Canon Mary Hauck, The Rev. Deacon Susan Reeve and The Rev. Craig Kuehn, who are all of the clerical members of the Standing Committee.
After hearing and considering the matter, all of the clerical members of the Standing Committee gave their advice and consent that they agreed with the judgment of Bishop Beisner that the letter submitted to him by the Rev. Tyler A. Strand constituted a declaration in writing of his renunciation of the ordained Ministry of this Church and a desire to be removed therefrom in accordance with the provisions of Canon III.9.8 of the Episcopal Church, that it is the duty of Bishop Beisner to record the request and declaration so made, that the Rev. Strand is acting voluntarily and for causes known which do not affect the Priest’s moral character, and that Bishop Beisner may pronounce that such renunciation is accepted, and that the Priest is released from the obligations of the Ministerial office, and is deprived of the right to exercise the gifts and spiritual authority as a Minister of God’s Word and Sacraments conferred in Ordination.
The clergy members of the Standing Committee grant their advice and consent to a judgment of renunciation of orders by The Rev. Tyler A. Strand; they further express their appreciation of the seriousness with which he undertook that decision and their thankfulness for his long service to the Church. (Seal, Hauck MSP)
Respectfully submitted,
Jenifer Campo
