Pack 91

Committee Meeting Minutes

January 14, 2009

The December Pack meeting was a big success. The last couple of years, the December meeting has been a combination meeting/display/social gathering. We will have a similar event again this December. During our program planning conference in April we can brainstorm ideas for this year’s theme.

We had a Leadership Enhancement presentation on Planning Special Events. I’m glad to say that our Pack is doing an excellent job planning events and most of the suggestions in the leader manual on how to run an event, we are already doing.

We reviewed the awards/materials that are needed for the January Pack meeting. Nine Scouts will be receiving their Bobcat badge. Several will also receive Webelos activity badges and others will receive belt loops and/or pins.

January Pack meeting is at the Grayslake Middle School on the 20th. The pizza party will start promptly at 6:15 with the Pack meeting to follow at 7 PM. Additionally, there will be a table set up with a scale, section of test track, and box to evaluate the size of cars so parents can check pinewood derby car specs if they want.

Finances were reviewed. The Pack is progressing within budget.

The Pinewood Derby was discussed. Plans are going well. Some unique decorations have been procured. It should be a fun event. We hope to see everyone there.

Sports complex outing will likely occur March 8th due to lack of open weekends in February. Any Webelos II Scouts that earned participation it the event will still be able to attend even though they leave the Pack in February.

Class B t-shirts will be ordered. Once they arrive, anyone interested in purchasing one can buy one. The “class-B” t-shirts are basically a Pack shirt that the Scouts can wear in place of their blue/tan uniform when doing a messy project or at Pack events like the fishing derby or campouts.

We will have a bowling outing sometime this spring.

The Spring Family Campout will be in April. It will likely be the weekend of the 24th to 26th. It may be a joint campout with another Pack, which should be fun. The location chosen is Camp OhDaKoTa in Burlington, Wisconsin (close to Lake Geneva). We can reserve the cabin there in case the weather turns bad or someone wants to go but does not have camping gear.
