Happy Halloween!!

The long awaited Science Fair is drawing near!! We have three weeks left! I want to make sure parents receive the same information I have shared with the kids in class. At this point, students should be completing the actual experiment, taking notes and pictures of the results. Students should follow their procedures. If during the experiment you realize something needs to be changed or completed differently, make sure to change it on the procedures. They should match.

**Students may begin to work on their tri-fold boards. They may go ahead and begin typing everything up except for the conclusion, data/graphs and pictures. They should be deciding how they want to put the board together: (colors, design, layout, etc..) This is the time for students to be creative and take ownership of their project. We are typing and printing at school as well. On the live binder under, “Display Board” you can find some examples and a link with lots of examples. Under the tab, “S.F Planning Guide” you can also find examples. I have included a sample at the bottom of the email.

**The presentation should be 3-5 minutes, unfolding from start to finish about their project. They may want to start with a joke or question to grab the judges attention!

We will work on this in class in the next few weeks as well as how to make charts, write the conclusion and use Microsoft Word for typing. They should practice often and use a timer.

**As a reminder, the live binder has examples of every part to prepare for the Science Fair. I’ve shown the students in class so they will know where to look as well. The judging rubric is on the live binder but I have also attached a copy to this email..

**(On a side note…if a student should win at the school and District level-they will go on to the Regional Fair at ASU. Parents WILL be responsible for transporting their child to App. I will be going but will not be allowed to transport students.) The date of this is Dec. 15th.

Feel free to ask any questions. I completely understand how busy everyone is and the time/effort this project requires. I can’t wait to see the finished products!!

Thank you for your support!!!
