Director of Elementary Curriculum/AIG Services

This position is one of support and provides the instructional leadership needed to achieve the district’s on-going instructional goals and objectives. The Director of Elementary Curriculum/AIG Services reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Learning and participates as a member of the curriculum team.
- Attends and presents during meetings of the Board for the purpose of communicating departmental/program information relevant to job responsibilities.
- Compiles and analyzes data as assigned from internal and external sources for the purpose of identifying issues and monitoring program components.
- Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Learning, in cooperation with other executive level administrators, in effectively coordinating the district’s elementary educational programs.
- Provides leadership in the development, implementation and administration of an elementary educational program.
- Coaches the elementary principals and leadership teams at schools.
- Provides leadership for the assessment of current instructional practices and curriculum and makes recommendations for improvement in elementary educational programs.
- Assumes a leadership role in elementary curriculum planning, implementation of state standards and development of curriculum resources.
- Administers the elementary textbook selection and adoption program in cooperation with curriculum committees.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data to improve elementary programs and academic achievement.
- Assists principals and instructional facilitators with identifying needs, makes recommendations, and facilitates the delivery of professional development.
- Conducts training for instructional facilitators, teachers and administrators for the purpose of providing information on current initiatives, research-based best practices, and differentiation.
- Collaborates closely with other department directors to accomplish the goals and initiatives of the curriculum team and mission of the district.
- Develops support documents and presentation materials, independently and/or through collaboration with members of the curriculum team for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
- Attends and actively participates in weekly cabinet meetings for the purpose of communicating information and soliciting feedback from members of the team.
- Participates in the planning of the pre-school leadership conferenceprincipals’ meetings and presentsin areas of responsibility for the purpose of communicating curriculum and instruction initiatives.
- Monitors and provides support for the administration of Reading 3D.
- Monitors and provides support for Read to Achieve legislation.
- Seeks and shares resources to support principals, teachers, and instructional facilitators in their job responsibilities.
- Represents the school system and the community in a positive manner. Follows all board policies, school system rules andadministrative regulations for the purpose of meeting the professional standards of the system in meeting its mission.
- Supports the Assistant Superintendent for Learning, the Superintendent, Board, and department administrators for the purpose of developing and implementing services andprograms and achieving operational goals.
- Coordinates and supervises the district AIG program.
- Aligns services for AIG children.
- Provides professional development as needed for AIG teachers.
- Writes and carries out the local AIG plan.
- Administers the AIG budget.
- Provides resources for AIG teachers.
