Help at ZOOOM Information Sheet
Saturday 5th July 2014 at Wincanton Racecourse
We are looking for a significant number of leaders and Senior Section girls to be able to help with a variety of tasks at ZOOOM. Once you have read the information below and would be willing to help please complete and return the expression of interest form to the Region Office by 15th February 2014.
General Information
- There will not be any charge for leaders or Senior Section who volunteer to work at ZOOOM. Although you will be given time to look round at the activities on offer and may have time to join in some of them, please remember that the activities are predominately there for the participants.
- Hot & cold drinks will be provided but you will be expected to either bring a packed lunch or buy your lunch from one of the many catering outlets.
- It is hoped that the Senior Section volunteers will be available to camp at Wincanton Sports ground on the Friday evening and will then be transported to the racecourse for 8am on the Saturday. Breakfast will be provided. Tents can be supplied if required.
- All volunteers will be expected to attend a briefing session either early on Saturday morning or at lunchtime.
- Senior Section girls will be expected to work all day with regular breaks.
- All volunteers will be expected to bring a black T-Shirt to wear and will be given a baseball cap so that the participants can identify them.
- Region will pay reasonable travelling costs but these must be agreed with the region office prior to ZOOOM. Please try to share lifts whereever possible.
Description of help required – Senior Section
ZOOOM Zippers – Meet and greet the girls and leaders when they arrive. Move around the site during the day helping the participants have an enjoyable day.
Nail bar – help the younger girls paint their nails and then put space themed transfers on the top of the nail polish.
Face painting – paint the girls faces with a simple space theme design.
ZOOOM trail–be one of 30 peoplewho is supervising one of our specially designed rockets which the girls have to find as well as complete a task or answer a question.
Rainbow quiet zone -help entertain Rainbows with simple crafts and activities in an area set aside for just rainbows.
Photographer – take photos of individual girls or groups of girls which can then be printed off. Region will supply the camera.
Photo printer – working with the photographer print off the girl’s photo’s for them to take home or email it to them. Region will supply the laptop & printer.
Description of help required – Adult
Retail – help serve in one of the shops selling both region and ZOOOM merchandise.
Supervision of Inflatables – work along side the employees of the provider to supervise the inflatable slides and bouncy castles.
ZOOOM trail – be one of 30 peoplewho is supervising one of our specially designed rockets which the girls have to find as well as complete a task or answer a question.
Big Top Marshall – supervise leaders and girls in the Big Top during the rolling shows that will be on during the day.
Registration/Administration – Meet girls who have arrived by parents cars and need to find their own leader. Help with the registration of units as they arrive.
Photographer – take photos of individual girls or groups of girls which can then be printed off. Region will supply the camera.

Activity marquee Marshall – Be a Marshall in one of the activity tents doing craft, costumes etc.

Organise activities for Rainbows – could you bring and then organise a number of activities especially for rainbows.
General help before ZOOOM – general help required at the region office in Salisbury leading up to ZOOOM to include things like sending out wristbands, badges etc. Day and times are totally flexible.
