SUBJ: Nominating Committee Report for the VASWCD election at the Annual Meeting on 5 DEC 2017, & the VASWCD Educational Foundation (EDF) election on 3 DEC 2017.
Nominating Committee Report:
In August 2017, VASWCD President Steven Meeks asked if I would chair the VASWCD Nominating Committee for VASWCD and VASWCD Educational Foundation (EDF) Officers for 2018. Other committee members asked to serve on the Committee were Judy Burtner, Headwaters SWCD and Derwin Booker, Northern Neck SWCD. We all agreed to serve.
The VASWCD Members will elect the following officers at the 2017 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, 5 DEC 2017:
President (for a one-year term)
1st Vice President (for a one year-term)
2nd Vice President (for a one-year term)
VASWCD Secretary/Treasurer position (for a two-year term)
[The NACD Board Member Representative is not up for election this year.]
The VASWCD EDF will elect the following officers at the 2017 Annual Meeting on Sunday, 3 DEC 2017:
President (for a one-year term).
Vice President (for a one-year term).
Secretary/Treasurer (for a one-year term).
The Nominating Committee asked all incumbents eligible for reelection if they would be willing to continue to serve. All current officers of both the VASWCD and the VASWCD EDF agreed to continue to serve in the appropriate roles if elected.
The Committee also asked VASWCD Executive Director Kendall Tyree to send out a message to all districts asking SWCD directors interested in competing for a position to let us know. Kendall sent out our message to all districts twice before the deadline on 19 SEPT. The nominations committee reviewed information of those candidates that expressed interest. Consequently, following are the Nominating Committee recommendations for VASWCD Officers for 2018, and for VASWCD EDF Officers for 2018.
For VASWCD Officers to be elected on Tuesday, 5 DEC 2017:
For the position of VASWCD President: Steven Meeks, Thomas Jefferson SWCD
For the position of VASWCD 1st Vice President: Chip Jones, Northern Neck SWCD.
For the position of VASWCD 2nd Vice President: Giannina Frantz, Tri-County/City SWCD
For the position of VASWCD Secretary/Treasurer: Don Wells, Hanover-Caroline SWCD.
For VASWCD EDF Officers to be elected on Sunday, 3 DEC 2017.
For the position of VASWCD EDF President: Richard Chaffin, Peaks of Otter SWCD.
For the position of VASWCD EDF Vice President: Derwin Booker, Northern Neck SWCD
For the position of VASWCD EDF Secretary/Treasurer: Ed Overton, Colonial SWCD
