Funds will help the Lower Kuskokwim School District to replace the Atmautluak Elementary School, which has several emergency conditions that make it unsuitable for repair. Approximately 77 Alaska Native students attend the Atmautluak Elementary School. Grants for the Napakiak and Kilbuck Schools will be used to implement new water filtration systems to correct elevated levels of arsenic and organics in the existing water supply. Together these two schools serve approximately 550 Alaska Native children.

Pribilof School District

The Pribilof School District will use these funds to replace the HVAC system at the St. Paul School. The school serves approximately 94 Alaska Native children on St. Paul Island in the Bering Sea.

Plenty Coups High School District

These funds will be used to make a large number of emergency repairs to the structural, mechanical and electrical systems of the Plenty Coups High School, which serves approximately 81 children from the Crow Reservation.

These funds will be used to make several emergency repairs to the Tolani Lake School Academy, which serves approximately 80 children from the Navajo Reservation.

Brockton Elementary School District

Montana

These funds will be used to upgrade the HVAC system, remove asbestos, replace the electrical and fire/safety system, replace windows and exit doors, remove mold, replace contaminated floor tiles and correct ADA deficiencies in the Brockton Elementary School, which educates approximately 117 children from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

Kuspuk School District

The Kuspuk School District will use this grant to replace the Joseph and Olinga Elementary School, which is endangered by its location too close to a river bank and does not have access to suitable well water. The school serves approximately 28 Alaska Native children.

Ha:san Preparatory and Leadership School

Funds will be used to replace a roof and install gutters, replace windows, improve the HVAC system, correct deficiencies in the kitchen, and correct ADA deficiencies. The Ha:san Preparatory and Leadership School serves 151 children from the Tohono O’odham, Pasqua Yacqui, and Gila River Reservations.

Wyola Elementary School District

Shonto Preparatory School

Funds will be used to replace the Shonto Preparatory Technology High School, which is currently housed in a severely inadequate temporary building. Shonto Preparatory High School enrolls approximately 150 students from the Navajo Reservation.

Timber Lake School District

South Dakota

Funds are reserved for an award to Timber Lake School District, contingent on the availability of matching funds. The proposed project would demolish the Old High School building, which has major structural problems that could lead to roof failure, and replace it with a new facility with additional classroom space, a cafenasium, kitchen, auditorium and administrative areas. The Timber Lake School serves approximately 300 students from the Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Reservations.

Blackwater Community School

Frazer Elementary School District

Funds will be used to replace the HVAC system, replace the electrical and fire safety system, and construct a classroom addition to replace a temporary structure that was recently destroyed by fire. The Frazer School serves approximately 100 students on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

Santee Community School

Funds will provide a portion of the cost of a project to replace the severely undersized school with a new high school facility. The Santee Community School serves approximately 175 students on the Santee Sioux Indian Reservation.
