MEOPHAM SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION FACULTY
The PE department is fully committed to promoting the ‘Healthy Mind in a Health Body’ vision of the school. We embody, absolutely, the sporting ethos at Meopham in our attitude, demeanour and enthusiasm. We are keen to encourage and motivate both pupils and colleagues in their sporting endeavours.As a Specialist School we are totally committed to raising standards across the whole school using sport as the vehicle.
The successful candidate will join a very strong and enthusiastic team committed to working collaboratively in a high achieving department across the Key Stages.
In the PE Faculty at Meopham School it is our objective to ensure that the pupils appreciate the reasons for physical health and exercise and gain enjoyable and educational experience of a wide range of activities. We feel, at Meopham School, that education is a life long process and that all pupils should leave school with enough interest, understanding and expertise to equip them for active and enjoyable adult lifestyles.
We are passionate about every student leaving school with a sporting accreditation for their work and progress in PE, whether it is BTEC, GCSE, A-Levelor Sports Leaders Award. BTEC National Diplomas, A-Levelsand the Community Sports Leadership Award are offered in the sixth form.
It is essential that the right candidate can teach dynamically across the entire ability and age range. A keen desire, ability and enthusiasm to deliver BTEC would be a strong advantage.

KEY STAGE 3
2x 50min lessons per week
Pupils are set from year 7 and taught in single sex groups
Class size approximately 17-25 per group
At key stage 3 the new PE curriculum is followed whereby the key concepts of competence, performance, creativity and healthy active lifestyles underpin the study of PE.
Within the curriculum we cover all 6 activity areas of –
- Outwitting opponents
- Accurate replication
- Exploring and communicating ideas, concepts and emotions
- Performing at maximum levels
- Identifying and solving problems
- Exercising safely and effectively
KEY STAGE 4
- 2 x 50 min core lessons per week
- BTEC First in Sport – EDEXCEL- Years 9, 10 and 11
- GCSE- EDEXCEL
- JSLA-Years 9 and 10
- Option based curriculum at year 11
KEY STAGE 5
- BTEC National in Sport and A-Level Sport- EDEXCEL
- CSLA
The facilities are excellent at Meopham and include:
- A 2 fully equipped gymnasiums
- Extensive playing fields which host 3 football pitches, 12 training grids, 400m athletics track, and 10 Tennis courts. There is also a modern public Sports Centre on our site.The school has priority use of this excellent facility.
- Dance Studio.
- Assembly hall- Table Tennis.
