Job Description

Job Title:Assistant Manager(Nuneaton & Bedworth Domiciliary Care Services)

Job Purpose:To provide an effective and inspiring service for the people we support. To be an important part of the management team for the service or services. To deputisefor the manager, when necessary.

Accountable/ Reporting to:Service Manager

Line Manager for:Support Workers within your Services

Responsibilities:

1Day-to-day support of the service

1.1To assist the manager to organise and coordinate the running of the service/services

1.2Contribute to the drawing up, monitoring and reviewing of all Service policy and practice guidelines.

2.To support the manager in the following

2.1Ensure the quality of care provided is the best practice

2.2To support and prepare for visits and inspections by Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission

2.3Ensure any recommendations are acted upon

2.4Maintain records as required to show they meet the standards for compliance with the regulations in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008

2.5Ensure the development of a care plan for each service user using a ‘person centred’ planning system

3.Health and Safety with the support of the manager to

3.1Monitor and review all health and safety policy and practice guidelines for the Service

3.2Undertake an analysis of the health and safety risks within the Service, ensure action is taken to minimise the risks

3.3Ensure the Service complies with all health and safety requirements

3.4Provide first aid services at the Service when necessary

3.5 Notify the Health and Safety Executive of any incident occurring which is reportable under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 1985.

4Ensure the individuals supported receive the best possible service

4.1Promote and enable the involvement of service users in all aspects of the service

4.2Ensure the service userssupport needs are regularly assessed, recorded and understood by all staff

4.3Facilitate regular meetings of the people we support and their advocates to gather their views

4.4Ensure service users have the opportunity to develop daily life skills which could help them become more independent

4.5Ensure the safe storage and administration of all medicines, including keeping records

4.6Assist Support Workers to identify relevant community resources and negotiate access to them

4.7Liaise with outside agencies to represent the needs of the service users

5.Staffing

5.1To assist the manager in the maintenance of good staffing levels ensuring the rota is covered

5.2Ensure staff work within People in Action policy and practice and to appropriate standards

5.3Agree tasks and support staff in understanding priorities

5.4Provide regular support and supervision sessions as required

5.5 Plan and action the development and training of the staff as required

5.6Actively contribute to the process of recruitment and selection of staff

5.7Act to resolve conflict between members of your team

6.The Service Budget

6.1Maintain financial records

6.2Monitor and report back to the Service Manager on the budget

7.Provide direct services to the people living in the Service/using the Service

7.1Liaise with families

7.2Undertake assessments

7.3Ensure choice is provided

7.4Advocate on their behalf

8.Other Duties

To undertake any other duties deemed appropriate and necessary by the Service Manager and/or Board of Directors.
