40,000 hours of labor from 125 volunteers. Next, stir in $246,000 in cash donated by the Aberdeen Rotary Club and its members, and then top it all off with another $500,000 in donated labor, services and materials from 52 community businesses. Mix everything together with eight years and as it looks done, sprinkle with lots of community pride and admiration. Viola, you now have a unique, family –oriented community facility!

The people of Aberdeen, Washington are the proud owners of its Rotary Log Pavilion, a 5,400 square foot community facility located at the MorrisonRiverfrontPark. Built by the Aberdeen Rotary Club and donated to the City of Aberdeen, the Rotary Log Pavilion will serve as a unique gathering place for the youth and family activities for many years to come.

Aberdeen’s Log Pavilion represents the very heart and soul of this small, coastal timber community. The concept for the Log Pavilion began in 1986 when local Rotary Club members Bob Swedblom, Jim Stamateau, John Earley, and Mel Flavel realized that Aberdeen needed a community facility for youth and family gatherings. As their idea gathered momentum, it was decided that it would be a great tribute to Aberdeen’s logging heritage to build a community facility entirely in the log-cabin tradition. With the commitment of the Aberdeen Rotary Club and the community behind them, these gentlemen began the daunting task of designing and construction a Log Pavilion. Anybody who visits the Log Pavilion will be astounded by its striking design and loving attention to detail.

After six years of community labor and generosity, the Log Pavilion is now ready for use. The Log Pavilion is located in MorrisonRiverfrontPark with grand views of the ChehalisRiver and Aberdeen’s working waterfront. The facility has the capacity to handle up to 300 persons and also has a fully-equipped kitchen. Already the Log Pavilion is proving itself as the showcase of our community. In just its first three months of use, it has been the preferred site for banquets, weddings, club gatherings, and other community events.
