EE492-DEC0912: Weekly report (7)
The team met Dr.Qiao as usual on Tuesday. Some issues raised during the meeting were –
- Adding functionality of text-messaging system to other carriers not in the current list.
- Error checking the format of the phone number to be entered in the text field.
- Checking the conflict of two employers assigned the same IP address in the database.
- Considering the dynamic allocation of IP addresses to uniquely identify an employer.
- Work on Terminal interface and Employer Check-in
Gabriel changed the php.ini file to store errors in a log file or show them in the browser, but after restarting apache, errors still weren't logged or displayed on screen. More work is on the way. He also coded a prototype function to store an employer's ip as a cookie and compare against the ip of the machine for error checking if an employers ip ever changes. He also started working on a check in to a line page. that will have two columns. one to display the people in the line and the other uses javascript to display a students resume if they're clicked on in the other coulumn. Nick worked on the IP conflict problem for employers and was resolved (one IP can only be associated with one company). The employer check-in and check-out, and matching algorithm have basic functionality, but still need more testing. The employer checkin/checkout should be fully functional by Tuesday's meeting. Also Gabriel created the code for using cookies in PHP to determine whether an employer's IP address has changed, and Nick added it to the main code so that the database will be updated accordingly if that happens. Adam worked on getting support for other carriers that might subscribe to the text messaging system. Kartik started work on the poster generating a rough layout for the design of the poster. Text in the poster is also accumulated but is very rough and needs fine-tuning.
The team intends to meet next week and fine-tune the employer check-in and terminal web interface and get it to work with the reader and the tags, the server and database permitting. All unfinished tasks will try to be completed and other tasks will be assigned after the Tuesday meeting with Dr.Qiao based on how it goes.
