A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE ANDREW JACKSON HIGH SCHOOL LADIES SOFTBALL TEAM OF KERSHAW COUNTY ON ITS MOST IMPRESSIVE CAPTURE OF THE 2006 AA STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO HONOR ITS PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, STEVE MIDDLETON, ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.
Whereas, a championship caliber softball team requires its players to have speed, strength, precision, handeye coordination, and a good understanding of the fundamentals of the game; and
Whereas, the Lady Volunteers of Andrew Jackson High School in Kershaw County came into the season already blessed with some amazing natural athletic ability, and Head Coach Steve Middleton and his staff had only to fashion the team’s form to expose its utmost potential by teaching the players the fundamentals of softball; and
Whereas, Coach Middleton and his assistants did a fantastic job passing their superior knowledge onto the Lady Vols as the team completed their finest season ever by compiling a 364 record, winning their eighth consecutive region championship, winning their sixth straight district championship, and most importantly, shutting out Chapman twice in a bestofthree series to capture the AA State Championship; and
Whereas, the Lady Vols also won the Pee Dee Pitch Off Tournament, which is a thirtyeight team preseason tournament, by defeating South Florence, the AAAA State Champion, with a score of 40 to bring home the title; and
Whereas, Andrew Jackson placed second in the Azalea Tournament, the nation’s premier spring break tournament in Summerville, South Carolina, after falling to South Florence in the championship game; and
Whereas, the team was lead by standout pitcher Casey Faile, who finished the year breaking two state records with five hundred twenty strike outs and twentyseven shutouts and posting a 302 mark while also being second on the team in batting with a .480 average and driving in fiftytwo RBI’s; and
Whereas, senior leader, Lyndsey Vincent, led the Lady Vols at the plate with a .518 batting average and drove in fifty RBI’s; and Tristan Faile led the team in runs scored and was third in hitting with a .404 batting average; and
Whereas, other members of the team contributing to this bestever season include Mickie Brown, Samantha Catoe, Tessa Faile, Danielle Gibson, Casey Hammond, Bailey Kennington, Lauren Kirk, Caroline Phillips, Heather Rutledge, Caryn Truesdale, and Emily Stover; and
Whereas, the Andrew Jackson Ladies Softball Team’s championship season could not have been made possible without the influence and support from assistant coaches Meg Faile, Phil Faile, Doug Kirk, Maurice Phillips and Larry Truesdale. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Andrew Jackson High School Ladies Softball Team of Kershaw County on its most impressive capture of the 2006 AA State Softball Championship Title and honor its players and their coach, Steve Middleton, on an outstanding season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the players, coaches and school officials of the Andrew Jackson High School Ladies Softball Team.
