PARKWAY’S SITE BASED MINUTES

October 26, 2016

  • Allmembersin attendance introduced themselves.
  • The March 2016 Minutes were voted upon and unanimously approved.
  • The undersigned was selected to record notes and draft the final minutes of the meetings.
  • All meetings will begin at 8:00 a.m.
  • Mr. Scesney provided written materials outlining the purpose and goals of the Committee, which were then discussed.
  • The following dates were approved for future meetings:

December 5, 2016; January 25, 2017; March 22, 2017; May 15, 2017.

  • The playground equipment for the kindergarteners has been installed.
  • Windows are being installed and blinds will be arriving.
  • All egress doors and doors at the end of each corridor will be replaced, except for the library door, which is new.
  • A fence will be installed in November that will enclose the entire playground area across the blacktop to the school building.
  • The contractors have been professional and cooperative.
  • The “Bully Pledge” will no longer be recited in the morning. Mr. Scesney and Ms. Yerk are presently working on other measures that are age appropriate to address proper conduct and kind interactions between students both at school and as productive members of the community as actions speak louder than words.
  • Morning announcements are made daily in English and Chinese, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • There are three aides and one teacher present at recreation for supervision and safety.
  • In the event a child becomes ill during lunch, protocol will be initiated so that the ill child will be removed from the cafeteria and all children in the immediate vicinity of the ill child will be moved to another location so that the area can be cleaned and thoroughly sanitized.
  • The next meeting is December 5, 2016.
