MEMBERSHIP MEETING
MARCH 13, 2013
Meeting was opened by Carol Young.
Mission statement was read aloud by Carol.
Present: Pat Crawford, Carol Young, Chelsey Pinson, Adam Mills, Joy and John Platevoet,
Katie Schlecht, Jeanie Senical, Pauline Hancock and Amy Koblos.
President’s Report: None – Rosemary absent.
Secretary’s Report: There were no additions or corrections to the minutes. Motion was made by Joy Platevoet to accept the minutes, seconded by Chelsey Pinson, motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: No report – Theresa absent.
Director’s Report and Building Committee – Pauline said we are starting on the new kennels.
DJ Mechanical and Plumbing’s bid was $1605. less than the other one we received so we will go with them. Also, Greg Gifford gave us $500 off his quote. He will be doing the deck on top of the kennels, staircase and railings. He will be the project manager. The block will be started next week. We have lost power a couple of times now. Today we were out for an hour. It seems that we need to look into having a back-up generator.
Chris’ hours have been reduced to 30 hours a week. Angel is presently working 30 hours a week also. Pauline would like to keep them both at 30 hours a week and review it at our next meeting. Motion by Joy Platevoet to have Chris and Angel both work 30 hours per week, seconded by Pat Crawford, motion passed.
Pauline noted we have 3 adult dogs and 3 puppies left that are adoptable. We also have 5 newborn puppies.
Membership Report: Currently we have 78 members.
Humane Education: No report. Sharon absent.
Grant Writing: Rolly sent a note saying he has received the DJ&T Clinic Grant information and will work on that for the next couple of weeks.
Spay and Neuter: We have been doing a LOT of that lately with all the dogs that we received from the court, plus our usual schedule.
Publication Committee: Robin and Pat want to put out a newsletter the 1st week of April. Please get your articles to Robin as soon as possible. This week we sent out 270 membership drive flyers and the Lewiston Dinner Invitations will go out the first week of April.
The volunteer party will be held in the Humane Education Room on May 19th from 2 – 4pm.
The birdhouses are all distributed to be painted for the upcoming auction.
Unfinished Business:
Katie said she has most everything lined up for the Italian Dinner in Lewiston.
Cash counting sheet decision was tabled until a later date.
Chelsey said she has received a couple of applications from Hillman School for a scholarship. The applications are from last year. The scholarship was discontinued last year and in light of that the applications will be returned to the school.
Bank Loan – There has been no update on the bank loan.
Next meeting will be April 11th.
