At Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are committed to delivering in-patient care in environments that maintains individual patients’ privacy and dignity and are aiming to eliminate the mixing of sexes in all in-patient areas.

1. The views of every patient admitted to shared accommodation in Sheffield Health and Social Care in-patient wards will be sought and recorded at the point of admission and at intervals determined clinically thereafter. / Quarterly reports will be provided to the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) / Senior Nurse Quality / Patients views will be recorded and audited every March and September with a report to QAC and the Service User Safety Group. A new electronic system has been devised to improve data collection
2. Information about the Trust’s compliance will be placed on the Trust’s internet site. / Review every six months / Senior Nurse Quality / In-patient leaflet is completed and on the SHSC internet site.
3. All capital schemes involving refurbishment and improvement, including the In Patient Reconfiguration will have the plans checked for EMSA compliance. / Ongoing / Director of Estates/ Senior Nurse Quality / All new or refurbished in-patient accommodation will be fully compliant with EMSA.
4. All breaches will be reported using the Trust’s Incident Reporting Procedures. / Ongoing every month / Senior Nurse Quality / All breaches will be recorded.
5. Twice yearly site visits to all in-patient areas to be undertaken with Sheffield CCG and EMSA lead. / Every six months / Senior Nurse Quality /CCG Sheffield / Visits occur as planned and service users/Non Executive Directors to be included in visits.
