Hours:16 hours per week. Hours of work will be those necessary to carry out the full responsibilities of the post, a large proportion of work will be coaching in the evening.

Background Information:

The UK Dodgeball Association is the National Governing Body for the sport of dodgeball in the United Kingdom and works to support the growth of the sport at all levels. Founded in 2005 the association is responsible for all regulatory aspects of the sport and represents the home nations internationally.

Dodgeball has many advantages over other sports, but none more than its absolute accessibility. It is played right across the world by people of all ages, genders and sporting abilities. It is very simple to learn, and ‘everyone’ has the ability get involved as part of a team.

The UKDBA is responsible for the development, delivery and promotion of the sport of dodgeball throughout the UK. The UKDBA has set ambitious targets for the future that will see the widespread growth of the sport of dodgeball within all age groups. Our aims are to: encourage new players into the sport; support the development of leaders & coaches; support the development of new clubs nationwide for both adults and juniors; develop competition from grass roots in schools through to the national game.

Job Purpose

The Leicestershire Dodgeball Activator will be responsible for the management, development and coaching of new dodgeball clubs within the county. Part of their role will also be to support existing dodgeball clubs within the county. The post holder will be expected to manage clubs to a high standard, with the highest regard for safety, quality and within a budget and schedule. The dodgeball activator will be asked to develop an agreed number of clubs at certain locations within the county.

Specific Responsibilities

  • To establish and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of dodgeball
  • To set up a minimum of 4 new clubs in agreed locations within the county
  • To effectively manage the programme budget
  • To liaise with dodgeball clubs, teams and participants on a regular basis
  • To develop and maintain partnerships with a range of key local stakeholders (including Local Authorities, Leicestershire & Rutland Sport, Leisure Providers, Schools, College and Universities)
  • To plan, organise and deliver opportunities for learning and sharing best practice
  • To ensure effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting of membership
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required from your line manager from time to time
