Dear Parent/Guardian and youth:
Thank you so much for encouraging your child(ren) to be a part of Faith FACTOR Youth Service Week! Please read the following information carefully with your youth, and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our youth minister before June 1.
- New in 2017 we will begin the week on Monday evening from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
- Each morning Tue-Thurs.,we will gather between 7:30-7:45 at St. Thomas More.On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will return to St Thomas Morefor reflection on the day and Closing Prayer until 4PM. It is important to be there for the entire day to experience the full meaning of Faith FACTOR (Fox Valley youth joining together to serve our community, live the Eucharist, and learn about Catholic Social Teachings). On Thursday, we will close with Mass at 4:00pm at St. Thomas More. After Mass we will finish up our week with a free meal, all family members are welcome, rsvp is needed for food planning.
- Dress should be casual, but modest. No cut-offs, short shorts, or open-toed shoes (flip flops, sandals…). You may be working outside, so you should bring a hat and sun block. T-shirts will be handed out on Monday and you will wear it to your worksite each day.
- Please bring a pair of pants each day as many sites require you to wear pants.
- Please bring a bag lunch to eat each day. You will also receive a water bottle the first day – please be sure to bring it daily and to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.
- We will be serving at a wide variety of places throughout the week. We told the organizations that we will do whatever they need us to do. Sometimes the work may seem “meaningless,” or messy, or boring, but we need to be open to what they need. Sometimes the organizations do not have the time to organize their shelves or weed the yard because they are too busy taking care of clients. We are the hands of Christ this week, and we will help in whatever way we can to take care of His people
- Please be respectful of the places and people you are serving, as well as the chaperones and staff during your week at Faith FACTOR.
- On Thursday, families are invited and are strongly encouraged to attend both the Mass at 4:00pm PM and the meal following. Please consider volunteeringto help at the Closing Liturgy. You can read a reading or petitions, or be a Mass Server. It is always a special way to finish the service week! Sign up forms will be available at the St. Thomas More check in table. In case of an emergency during the service week, your parent/guardian can reach us at 1-920-739-8172.
Faith FACTOR would not be possible if it wasn’t for your commitment to Christ and service! We look forward to spending the week with you!
Sincerely,
Laurie Overesch
