Hilliard Elementary PTA General Membership Meeting

Call to Order:
Ingrid Adkins, Vice President, called the meeting to order at 9:05am in the Art Room. The pledge of allegiance was said.
EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS
President-Ginny Krouse
- Kim Tucker is our star player of the month for her help with Magic Gives Back and her constant support of the Hilliard PTA. She’s passionate and enthusiastic about Hilliard and she’s always putting our children first.
- Changing of the bylaws by vote (nominating committee) has been tabled to the end of the year.
Treasurer-Niki Arkwright
Finance report summary given, may need to vote on budget addition once Magic Gives Back amount is known at the March meeting.

The President’s plaque is complete and will be displayed soon. Thank you to Sarah Camden and Kristen Pugh for serving on the Nominating Committee.

2nd VP Report-Tonia Gentry
The Fun Fair Committee is meeting to decide on a Fun Fair date. We are keeping April 22nd on hold.
3rd VP-Principal Tucker
- Romeo’s, Giant Eagle, Silver Fox, Learning Express, Footsteps are among several businesses we are partnering with for One School One Book this year.
- March 10th- bring in your flier to Barnes and Nobles and TGIFridays, 20% of the proceeds go to One School One Book.
- All 4 elementary schools will hopefully be involved in One School One Book in 2016-17.
- Joe Kraft will be here to help kickoff One School One Book. Thank you to Joe Kraft for your $300 donation to Holly Lane and Hilliard for prizes!
- Students will be given clues next week as to what the book will be.
- The Talent Show will highlight 2-3 acts during Pawsitive Tuesday for the remainder of the year for students in grade 4.
Corresponding Secretary
A card was given to Mrs. Anderson on Valentine’s Day in honor of her wedding.
Council Delegates-Michelle Tobin and Cheryl Buchino
- AIR-state testing this year (PARCC last year). This year’s testing is 40% shorter in length than the PARCC. 95% participation is required by law, if lower state funding is restricted. State will release participation rate February 25th.
- Duplicate Calendar-recommendation to the board will be made on Monday.
- March 16th-State of the Schools at 6:30pm, Parkside.
- Dollars for Scholars is March 18th. Doors open at 6pm,game is at 7pm at Westlake High School. Game tickets are $5 pre-sale and $6 at the door. In addition to the game, there will be raffle drawings (including one for a $1000 cash prize), children’s activities, concessions and more. Cash prize raffle tickets are $5. Please contact Cheryl Buchino or Michelle Tobin to purchase tickets.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Box Tops-Alena Bodova: Getting ready for the March 1st deadline to send Box Tops. Fliers went home with the deadline to bring Box Tops to school by Wednesday, February 24th. There will be a reminder in the Hilliard Highlights.
Founders Day-Sarah Camden: The Founders Day event is this evening! The teachers have done an incredible job pulling everything together for the event.
Giant Eagle-Miss Reisdorff:nothing to report
Health and Safety-Abbey Samide:Walk to School-May, may have to change date based on testing day.
Husky Wear Sales-Gail Golembiewski: going into the teacher’s mailboxes today, sale is extended until February 29th. Bright Ideas is the company we are using. Husky Pawprint or Westlake “W” No minimum purchase.
Malley’s Candy Sale-Patty Ponstingle: Patty Ponstingle is heading up the sale. At meeting discussed concerns with launching Malley’s sale in time for delivery by Easter. Niki will contact Patty and coordinate.
Music Program-Amber McLoney:The 2nd grade concert April 20th
Parliamentarian-Gail Golembiewski:Gail summarized what was said at the Council of PTA meeting tostay informed, attend meetings and learn more about state testing.

Summer Meetups for Kindergarten-Sarah Camden: The first play date will be hosted by Kristen Lasinis at Hilliard’s Playground on 06/25. We also created a “secret” Facebook page for the incoming kindergarten class. Please contact Sarah if you are interested in more information.

Magic Gives Back Update-Cheryl Buchino: Net sales to date are for Magic Gives Back is $9605, Hilliard PTA’s profit is $2802.50. Amber and Kristen talked about the bake sale and concessions for the day of the event, Green Room setup.
