Bridleway No. 636 (Limpsfield) and the Upgrading of part of Footpaths Nos. 55 and 56 and the whole of Footpath 61 (Limpsfield) to Bridleway Status

Definitive Map Modification Order 2012

Notice is hereby given that the above referenced Order has been submitted to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for determination. An Inspector will be appointed by the Secretary of State to determine the Order.

The start date for the above Order is 16 October 2013.

Consideration of the Order will take the form of exchanges of statements of case and comments on statements of case.

The effect of the Order, if confirmed without modifications, will be to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by:

i. adding Bridleway No 636 in Limpsfield, shown on Drawing No. 3/1/28/H41a attached to the Order by a solid green line, commencing at point ‘F’ being the south-west corner of Tenchley’s Wood and proceeding in a generally south-easterly direction for 362 metres to point ‘H’. The width of the path between ‘F’ and ‘H’ varies between 2.4m – 8.1m.

ii. upgrading Footpath No. 61 in Limpsfield, shown as a solid green line on Drawing No. 3/1/28/H41 attached to the Order, commencing at point ‘A’ at its junction with Kent Hatch Lane and proceeding in a generally southerly direction for 238 metres to point ‘B’, its junction with Footpath No. 56 north of “The Hollies” to the status of bridleway. The width of the path between ‘A’ and ‘B’ is 2.4m.

iii) upgrading Footpath No. 56 in Limpsfield, shown as a solid green line on Drawing No. 3/1/28/H41 attached to the Order, commencing at point ‘B’ and proceeding in a generally westerly direction for 155 metres past point ‘C’ to point ‘D’ its junction with Footpath No. 55 south of Chartfield Cottage to the status of bridleway. The width of the path between ‘B’ and ‘C’ is 6.1m. There are wicket and field gates at ‘C’ with a width of 1.3m and 3.0m respectively.

iv) upgrading Footpath No. 55 in Limpsfield shown as a solid green line on Drawing No. 3/1/28/H41 and 41a commencing at point ‘D’ and proceeding in a generally south-easterly direction for 68 metres to point ‘E’ its junction with Footpath No. 619 east of Arden Cottage; then progressing in a largely south-westerly direction for 274 metres to point ‘F’ its junction with Bridleway No. 636 at the south-westerly corner of Tenchley’s Wood, thereafter recommencing at point ‘H’ 354 metres to the south-east and proceeding in a generally south-easterly direction for 244 metres past points ‘I’, ‘J’, ‘K’ and ‘L’ to point ‘M’, its junction with Bridleway No. 54 (Limpsfield) south east of ‘The Old Dairy’, to the status of bridleway. The width of the path between ‘D’ and ‘E’ is 2.7m. The width of the path between ‘E’ and ‘F’ varies between 2.4m-4.9m. The width of the path between ‘H’ and ‘M’ is 3.0m. The field gates at point ‘E’ and ‘L’ each have a width of 3.0m.

Timetable for sending in statements of case and comments

Within 2 weeks of the start date [by 30 October 2013]

The Order Making Authority must ensure their statement of case is received by the Secretary of State. As soon as possible after the deadline, the Secretary of State will send a copy to everyone who has made an objection or representation, the applicant and any other person who has made a written representation.

Within 8 weeks of the start date [by 11 December 2013]

Everyone who has made an objection or representation or any other written representation must ensure their statement of case is received by the Secretary of State. As soon as possible after the deadline, the Secretary of State will send copies to the Authority, the applicant, every other person who has made an objection or representation and any other person who has made a written representation.

Within the same period the applicant (if applicable) must ensure their statement of case is received by the Secretary of State. As soon as possible after the deadline, Secretary of State will send a copy to the Authority, everyone who has made an objection or representation and any other person who has made a written representation.

Within 14 weeks of the start date [by 22 January 2014]

Everyone who has made an objection or representation, the Authority, the applicant (if applicable) and anyone who has made a written representation must ensure that their comments on any or every other statement of case is received by the Secretary of State. As soon as possible after the deadline, the Secretary of State will send copies of these comments to everyone else.

Any other person wishing to make representations in writing to the Secretary of State in respect of the above Order(s) must do so in line with the timetable set out above.

In fairness to the other parties everyone should keep to the timetable to ensure that statements of case and comments are received on time.
