The Board of Education of Harford County met in an open business meeting on Monday, September 8, 2008 in the Board Room of the HCPS/A.A. Roberty Building and took the following actions or received the following presentations:

  • Unanimously approved the Grading and Reporting Committee’s recommendations regarding the approval of the actions planned as outlined in the Implementation Chart.
  • Approved the Contract on Construction Management Services for Schucks Road Elementary School Project. Click here to access the Board Report.
  • Discussed and approved the revisions of the Board Policy regarding Fire Drills and Fire Safety, including renaming the policy, Evacuation Drills and Fire Safety. Click hereto access the approved policy.
  • Unanimously approved the revisions of the Board Policies regarding the School Year & School Day, Closing Schools, School Calendar, and Insurance.

  • Received a report providing a quarterly update on data regarding Extra-Curricular Eligibility.Click here to access the Report on Eligibility Data.
  • Received a presentation on the FY2010 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) which will be brought back before the Board on September 22 for a vote in order to be submitted to the County and State Governments.

  • Accepted the Superintendent’s recommendations of two candidates for the Board of Education Ethics Panel positions.

  • Received an information report on the Quarterly Financial Statements for the Period Ending June 30, 2008. Click here to access the Financial Report.
  • During the Superintendent’s Report, heard a presentation regarding new Library Media Support Materials, including an Administrator’s Booklet and a New Teacher Brochure. Also, received a presentation regarding a new HCPS publication, which is the second in a series regarding the desegregation of Harford County Public Schools, written by Patrick P. Spicer, Esquire and General Counsel to the Board of Education.
